Joseph Randle: Working to Solidify Roster Spot

Christopher Sifain

One of the questions coming into camp was if Joseph Randle could secure the third running back spot, or possibly find his way off this roster with the addition of Ryan Williams. If Thursday night is any indication, then things are looking up for the former Oklahoma State running back.

Randle had 50 yards on 13 carries and showed some shiftiness on some of his runs.

An average of 3.9 yards may not endear him to the so-called experts, but we are talking about a number three back on this roster that needs to fill in as necessary. One surprising thing I saw was his ability to block. This was something of a weakness last year and looks to be something he’s improved upon during the off-season.

Understand, this is only the first game of the preseason, and he will need to continue to display the kind of running he did Thursday night, but he’s definitely off to a good start.
