There are officially 91 days until the toe meets the ball at AT&T Stadium where the Dallas Cowboys will host the New York Giants on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
There are 13, THIRTEEN, Sundays left until we will be living the good life of Dallas Cowboys football! For those of you that aren’t quick at mental math 13 Sundays means 91 days. If you’re still scratching your head how that math worked out just forget about it and help us count down who the Greatest 91 in Dallas Cowboys History is!
The following players have all worn 91 for the Dallas Cowboys:
- Darren Benson, DT
- Leonardo Carson, DT
- Walt Johnson, DT
- L.P. Ladouceur*, DE
- Dimitrius Underwood, DT
- Matt Vanderbeek, LB
*Active player on the Dallas Cowboys roster
91 has only been worn six times in Dallas Cowboys History. Six! Isn’t that amazing? In the entire history, where thousands of players have come and gone, only six dudes have put the 91 on their backs.
The greatest one of all though is without a doubt my main man L.P. Ladouceur. This is a first on Inside The Star’s countdown as 91 and L.P. mark the first time that an active player is the greatest number of all time. There isn’t much competition, but L.P. is a stud in his own right.
Ladouceur was drafted not in the NFL, but in the Canadian Football League! L.P.’s Cowboy career started off in a pretty unique fashion. In the 2005 season the Cowboys stayed in California following a game against San Francisco to better prepare for Oakland. Due to issues with then long snapper Jon Condo, the team gave L.P. a shot at the long snapping duties…and he never looked back (other than on every snap he makes).
L.P. has had perfect snaps on each of his since getting his first start back in that 2005 season. He has only missed one game in his entire career, and in 2014 he was even selected to the Pro Bowl. L.P. has had clean snaps on over 600 punts, over 275 field goals, and over 400 PATs.
L.P. must stand for Legit & Perfect.
Check back tomorrow to find out who the Greatest 90 in Dallas Cowboys History is!
