We’re halfway through the 2013 NFL Draft. Some people ignore these last few rounds but there still remains some excellent value.
The Cowboys have yet to address the defensive line and still are looking for a running back.
With three picks remaining, this is how I see the rest of the draft playing out.
Round Four: William Gholston, DE, Michigan State
Gholston is an ideal 4-3 strong defensive end. He has long arms and great strength that allows him to set the edge in run defense. Additionally, Gholston has the potential to develop into a capable pass-rusher with his non-stop motor and fierce determination.
Gholston is awesome value here. I personally believe he can play interior defensive line and at defensive end. He’s really a versatile guy with a ton of upside under Rod Marinelli.
Round Five: Stepfan Taylor, RB, Stanford
Taylor is a balanced back who does everything well. He doesn’t have flashy measurables or a particlar skill-set that’s elite. However, when you watch tape on the kid you see a player who just gets it done.
Taylor would offer the Cowboys a value running back that could spell Murray and eventually develop into his replacement. Taylor is a three down back with extreme upside. The Cowboys would be pumped to get him here.
Round Six: David Quessenberry, OG/OT, San Jose St.
Quessenberry is a guy who really impressed at the Senior Bowl. He is a little light but has position flex to play offensive tackle and guard in the NFL.
Viewed more to me as a guard, Quessenberry has really good footwork, a nasty streak and was a team captain at San Jose State. He represents a guy who isn’t a clear upgrade but would compete against Bernadeau for the starting spot on the offensive line.
I’ve seen him graded as high as the third round and really believe he can be a starter for the Cowboys down the line.
