Trying to stay afloat in the NFC East division with star players missing the time, the Dallas Cowboys are using their bye week to shake up the roster until reinforcements return.
Matt Cassel will replace Brandon Weeden at quarterback and the lion’s share of rushes has apparently being granted to Christine Michael, a former Seattle Seahawks running back who was traded to the Cowboys in early September. Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden will handle secondary roles, but it appears that Michael will get a chance to shine this Sunday.
The Cowboys are 2-3 and are one game behind both the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles atop the NFC East division. Cassel’s first start for Dallas will be at 4:25 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants, a team that just had their three-game winning streak snapped.
The two teams have already played back in Week 1 in a thrilling finish. Tony Romo led the Cowboys down the field and hit Jason Witten for a game-winning touchdown pass with seconds remaining after some generous clock management from the Giants side.
According to Ticketbis.com, Dallas Cowboys tickets start from $399.25 with less than 30 tickets remaining. It is the most expensive contest out of their next three games, as next week’s home game against the Seattle Seahawks start from $333.14 (32 remaining) and tickets to their November 8th home game against the Eagles (30 remaining) start from $280.30.
Team owner Jerry Jones recently spoke about Dez Bryant and the receiver has not been ruled out for this week’s game against the Giants, but his return is still rather unlikely. After Wednesday’s practice, there should be better indications if Bryant really plans on making his return. Bryant broke a bone in his foot and players such as Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley and Devin Street have had opportunities to fill the void.
Romo on the other hand, still has a ways to go and will be not be eligible to return until Week 1, which is four weeks ago. Romo was placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list, which at the very minimum places a player on the sideline for six weeks.
The Giants seemed to have things clicking on all fronts during their three-game winning streak but looked sloppy on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants lost 27-7 after their offensive line was constantly bull rushed, causing Eli Manning and the Giants offense to turn it over three times.
