Hidden Gems: Who Are The Diamonds In the Draft Rough?

After months and months of speculation, predictions, and arguments the NFL Draft is finally here. And, the Cowboys look to be in great shape to add 2 or 3 immediate impact players in the early rounds. Just about the only advantage to having such an awful season is the position it places your team in come Draft Day. Of course, most of those arguments and discussions have centered around what the Cowboys will do with their 4th overall selection, a pick which should yield a potential star. It has been boiled down to two names:

Cowboys 2016 Big Board: Final Edition

We’re just a day away from the big night! Our Cowboys are in a position to land two significant players with the #4 and #34 picks in the 2016 draft, giving this draft a more exciting edge than in recent seasons. After digesting all of the available reports and opinions, here is my final “big board” for the Cowboys. To hopefully both of our early picks, I am going to make it a 35-player list. Keep the following in mind:

How 4 Games Without Gregory & Lawrence Impacts Draft Plans

With our defensive line in shambles, it doesn’t help when two of our most talented DE’s are suspended for substance abuse. It also shouldn’t surprise us, seeing as this isn’t their first offense. The Cowboys eventually took Randy Gregory sixtieth overall in last year’s draft despite his off the field issues. Gregory said at the time, “The franchise that drafts me won’t have to worry about me off the field, but the teams that didn’t select me will have to worry about me on the field.” Well, in mid-February, we learned that Gregory will be off the field for four games precisely because of his off the field behavior.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Cowboys Draft Hits & Misses

There is always a certain excitement that comes with Draft Day as every team is 0-0 and  set to add some brand new talent to their roster. History tends to repeat itself, however, making it increasingly valuable to look at previous draft day successes and failures of the Cowboys brain trust. Jerry Jones has been the team’s General Manager for more than 20 years, but for sake of brevity we will keep it to the last decade. Also, Stephen Jones has taken over a large bulk of the personnel type decisions over the past decade, making those picks more relevant to 2016. Here are just a few of the incredible hits and devastating misses the Cowboys have endured during the last 15 drafts.

Cowboys on the Clock: Russell Maryland, #1 Overall

It’s finally here! The 2016 NFL draft will take place TOMORROW night, as we all watch in anticipation when the Dallas Cowboys come on the clock with the fourth overall pick. Back in 1991, that wait was a big shorter, as the Cowboys owned the first overall pick. They used this pick on a defensive tackle out of the University of Miami. Russell Maryland Maryland’s football career took some time to get off the ground, as he ended up at Miami after not being heavily recruited.

What We Learned From The Cowboys Pre-Draft Press Conference

Bright minds across the globe of Cowboys Twitter have clung to one single truth around this time of year. While smokescreens, flim-flams, and razzle dazzles are being set, done, and thrown by NFL Front Offices across the league… The Dallas Cowboys traditionally are cautiously honest when it comes to their annual Pre-Draft Press Conference. Jason Garrett, Jerry Jones, and Stephen Jones all sat down for what will essentially be the last time in front of the media before things hit Zero Dark Thirty around Valley Ranch. You can watch the Pre-Draft Press Conference here, and I encourage you to do so, but here are a few things that can be drawn out from what they said.
