Tony Romo threw for 337 yards and 2 touchdowns, completing 34 out of 51 passes as the Cowboys defeated the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 27-23. The Cowboys were down 20-23 when Romo lead them on a game winning drive that ended with a touchdown pass to Dwayne Harris.
The 90 yard drive that culminated with a seven yard TD pass was the 19th game winning drive that Romo has led as an NFL quarterback. Last year, Romo led the league in fourth quarter comebacks with five. He got the job done again against the Vikings despite a late interception.
There is a lot to say about Romo’s performance but the highlight that NFL fans saw more than any play was of the Cowboys’ QB trying to scoot the ball forward to the first down marker while the officials weren’t looking. This clip was the object of many laughs, jokes and sly comments and I must say that I even grinned when I saw him try to slide one past the officials.
Apparently the media would rather talk about the Cowboys’ star trying to inch the ball closer to the marker than his actual football performance. But I’ve come to expect this kind of behavior from the media in regards to Romo.
Don’t get me wrong, I laughed a little when I saw the attempt to move the ball, but it’s not something I think is worth talking about the day after.
One thing that Romo proved in this game is that no matter how awful the team can play throughout the course of a game, he has the ability to give his team a chance to win. Despite a nonexistent run game, a shaky offensive line and a sometimes questionable defense, Romo led this team to a victory and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.
