When the Green Bay Packers punched their ticket to Dallas for a Divisional Round date with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, they did so with one of their fiercest weapons nursing an injury.
Packers WR Jordy Nelson suffered an apparent rib injury early in the Wildcard Round against the New York Giants, and he did not return to the game. Speculation began immediately about Nelson’s status for a Cowboys/Packers rematch, and very little clarity was gained from Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy on Monday.
#Packers coach Mike McCarthy said at his presser WR Jordy Nelson spent the night at the hospital. Won’t practice until at least Saturday

McCarthy on Jordy Nelson (rib): He'll be in the rehab group through Friday. If he can practice Saturday, he'll have a chance to play.

Jordy Nelson’s gametime status won’t be known until at least Saturday, when McCarthy and Co. will decide whether or not Jordy will play. It is worth noting that even when he was healthy during the 2014 Divisional Round contest at Lambeau Field, Jordy Nelson was limited to only 2 catches for 22 yards.
Brandon Carr – who handled Nelson a majority of that day – and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys secondary are going to be ready for whoever they have to face on January 15th. While it doesn’t seem that Nelson would be a threat if healthy, it certainly doesn’t hurt the Cowboys chances if he’s unable to play at all.
