The Dallas Cowboys got by the Cleveland Browns (35-10 is hardly “getting by” though) this past Sunday without the services of one of their best safeties.
Barry Church, who grew up a Cowboys fan, fractured his right forearm when Dallas beat Philadelphia in overtime back in Week 8. Church and the Cowboys went all last week saying that he’d likely miss 4-6 weeks, and that surgery was “an option.”
I always find it humorous when surgery is an option. Yea, deciding whether we want to surgically repair your arm is a coin-flip type of thing. Weird. However that decision goes down, it’s been made.

As if we couldn’t be more perplexed by this “optional” surgery, here’s another detail about it – surgery doesn’t affect Church’s timetable for return at all. That’s so cool/crazy! He can literally have surgery and heal up as quickly as if he didn’t. Barry Church might be Wolverine.
JJ Wilcox started in Barry Church’s absence and managed to play well. The Cowboys are 7-1 this season and well-accustomed to dealing with injuries, this is normal life for them.
