Best And Worst Of The Dallas Cowboys Off-Season

As things stand right now, it looks as if the Dallas Cowboys have had a pretty disappointing off-season, and that’s putting things as nice as I really can. Fortunately, with the good comes the bad and I decided that I would share with you what I see as … Read more

How Can The Cowboys Handle Backlash From Suspensions?

As a Staff Writer for Inside The Star, it is not always easy to come up with ideas to write about the Dallas Cowboys, especially during the downtime between the end of mini-camp practices and the start of training camp. Well, I was experiencing every writer’s worst nightmare … Read more

Cowboys Sophomores: DE Randy Gregory

Over the past two seasons, the Dallas Cowboys defense has amassed a whopping 59 total sacks. For perspective, the 2014 Buffalo Bills had 54 sacks on their own and the Denver Broncos Super Bowl 50 winning pass rush had 52 this past season. The need to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks has been evident in Dallas for a long time, and their most recent big investment towards fixing this has already turned himself into an unstable question mark for 2016. Randy Gregory was the Cowboys second round pick in the 2015 NFL draft. The front office put a lot of trust in the troubled pass rushing product out of Nebraska, and are now facing the reality of playing without Gregory for the first four games of 2016 after another failed drug test led to his suspension.

Cowboys’ Rolando McClain Suspended 10 Games; DeMarcus Lawrence Suspension Upheld

It was literally almost a year ago, July 2nd, 2015, that you were getting ready for your July 4th festivities (Howdy, Jason Pierre-Paul!) and got wind that Rolando McClain of the Dallas Cowboys would be suspended to begin the upcoming NFL season. 363 days later… here we are, again. The super awesome (sarcasm) thing about this is that instead of being suspended for 4 games, Rolando McClain will be forced to sit out a double digit amount – 10.

Marinelli on Randy Gregory: “I’m Training Him Like It’s His Opening Season”

Among the coaching staff for the Dallas Cowboys, Defensive Coordinator Rod Marinelli stands out as a guy with a big personality. He demands a lot from his players and is not shy about letting them – and the media – know when his expectations are not being met. He’ll also be the first to praise a guy that is performing well in his system on the defensive side of the ball, while continuously searching for ways to improve that player. When asked about suspended second-year defensive end Randy Gregory on Wednesday, Marinelli had this to say: “I’m training him like it’s his opening season.

Tyrone Crawford Could Help Cowboys at DE

With the pass rush still a question mark in Dallas, many are looking for other players to rise to the occasion. As DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory look at a four game suspension, it may be the Cowboys’ best option to have the defensive line’s most courageous player switch to defensive end. I call him courageous because following the 2014 season, he won the Ed Block Courage Award. The award goes to a player who exemplifies the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Other nominees included Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

How 4 Games Without Gregory & Lawrence Impacts Draft Plans

With our defensive line in shambles, it doesn’t help when two of our most talented DE’s are suspended for substance abuse. It also shouldn’t surprise us, seeing as this isn’t their first offense. The Cowboys eventually took Randy Gregory sixtieth overall in last year’s draft despite his off the field issues. Gregory said at the time, “The franchise that drafts me won’t have to worry about me off the field, but the teams that didn’t select me will have to worry about me on the field.” Well, in mid-February, we learned that Gregory will be off the field for four games precisely because of his off the field behavior.

Should The Dallas Cowboys Sign Jason Jones?

With his ability to rush the passer, from both defensive end and tackle, Jack Crawford is a great signing for 2016. But the Crawford signing does not mean the Cowboys are set on the defensive line. According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys have … Read more
