The Dallas Cowboys Select Maliek Collins at #67

Jess Haynie

Near the top of the third round the Cowboys added talent to their defensive line, selecting tackle Maliek Collins out of Nebraska.

Listed at 6’2″ and 311 pounds, Collins is considered a three-technique tackle with good burst and disruption ability. His NFL.com profile compared him to Henry Melton, which tells you a lot about why Rod Marinelli would want to work with him.

While the Cowboys bigger need was in their outside rushers over interior linemen, they do have the ability to plays guys like Tyrone Crawford, David Irving, or Jack Crawford at defensive end. Adding Collins gives them more ability to move players around as needed.

The Cowboys have no more picks tonight but could always trade up if they see something they like. With most of the third round still ahead of us, don’t turn away just yet!
