For about two months, the Dallas Cowboys have been without their leader and simply their best player. A fractured collarbone injury has sidelined Tony Romo for eight weeks, seven of which were games ended in a loss. However, according to Ed Werder of ESPN, the 35-year-old is in shape to start his first game this weekend against the Miami Dolphins for the first time since Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
As expected, source says recent tests indicate Tony Romo fractured left collarbone has healed. As for Sunday vs #Dolphins, “He will play.”

With a healthy Romo, the Cowboys now have all of their players back from injury, well except for Orlando Scandrick, who tore his ACL over the offseason, and maybe even Morris Claiborne, who is still receiving tests for what could be a season-ending hamstring injury.
Even without Claiborne, who has been excellent for Dallas this season, the Cowboys now become serious within the NFC East. With the return of No. 9, the Cowboys no longer have to start the likes of journeyman, cast-off quarterbacks like Matt Cassel or Brandon Weeden.
Romo returning provides a tremendous spark for this team that is currently in the cellar of the division, but the reality is that this hole might be too big for the Cowboys to crawl out of and this team might have far too many problems for Romo to fix.
Regardless, with a quarterback like Romo, this offense is going to be able to put up more points. Dez Bryant should take off, Cole Beasley will get more consistent looks, Jason Witten will be featured more in the redzone, and, most importantly, the running game will open up for Darren McFadden, as defenses will not be able to load the box against a player of Romo’s caliber.
Some have said that the Cowboys should just tank and get a top-5 pick. That’s truthfully ignorant. As it stands now, the Cowboys can still win the NFC East. They’re obviously going to need a lot of help, but if they can play at the level they’re supposed to, the possibilities are really quite endless for this football team.
I can tell you thing that is for certain, with the way the NFC looks as a whole right now, Romo returning puts the Cowboys in serious contention of being the most dangerous team in the postseason if they are able to get there.
