Tweet Break: Best of #Cowboys Twitter for May 20th

Sean Martin

It’s currently one of the slowest times in the NFL off season, as we drudge through May while looking ahead to the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp later on this summer. The great world of Twitter is helping Cowboys Nation get through this downtime with plenty of great -and at times not so great – Cowboys content.

With that, let’s jump right in to this week’s best of the best.

The Cowboys had their home run derby to raise money for the Salvation Army on Tuesday, and above are some of the best tweets from the event. While Mike Fisher’s Cowboys news is always on point, we may need him to find an additional source to confirm that Tyron Smith is actually swinging a baseball bat in that first video and not a toothpick.

Meanwhile, Jason Garrett took his swings and looked pretty good, but didn’t quite reach the 409 sign in center field that Ezekiel Elliott played in front of.

Speaking of Zeke Elliott, the rookie running back was one of four Dallas rookies to sign their first contract with the team on Wednesday. Elliott certainly looked good doing so as well –

With a large contract now in place along with Ezekiel’s large expectations, his former Ohio State Buckeyes’ QB Cardale Jones picked a good time to bring up an apparent debt that Elliott still owes him.

As our Staff Writer RJ Ochoa explained in this post, it is Jones that should owe Elliott something – as the 2014 National Championship winning quarterback received a significant boost from the ground game Zeke provided during their late-season and playoff run.

Meanwhile, Darius Jackson and Kavon Frazier also used Twitter to express their excitement in taking this next step and signing their contracts with the team.

The linebacker position for the Dallas Cowboys is one I spent a lot of time analyzing yesterday on Inside The Star, and here is an interesting tweet from a third year player that was talked about a lot in that piece:

We’ll conclude this weeks edition of Tweet Break with some NFL news that is not directly about the Cowboys, but still relevant for Dallas fans that followed the team’s draft process.

The Cowboys front office, after months of hard work, had their prospects for the fourth overall pick narrowed down to two players in Ezekiel Elliott and Jalen Ramsey. Dallas passed on Ramsey to take Elliott of course, as Ramsey came off the board with the very next pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The unfortunate news surfaced last night that Ramsey suffered an injury that could set him back for some time:

If you’re like me, you supported Jalen Ramsey throughout his draft process and wanted to see the ultra-talented defensive back have the best career possible as a Jaguar. Hopefully this injury is something that will not hold him back from still achieving this goal, as the Florida State product is now the second straight first-round pick for the Jaguars to be injured before the season began.
