The Dallas Cowboys All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith has unfortunately battled through injuries throughout the 2017 season. He missed a couple of games in November with a groin injury, and has had to deal with a nagging back problem off and on the entire season. To make matters worse, he is now suffering from a knee injury he sustained Sunday night against the Oakland Raiders.
Smith’s situation was clarified this morning by ESPN’s Todd Archer:
Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith has a sprained lateral collateral ligament in his knee. He is not expected to practice today but he has not practiced on a Wednesday in weeks because of back, hip and groin injuries. It's questionable he will be… https://t.co/PhypHVs7iZ

Tyron Smith ended up hurting his knee in the second quarter against the Raiders Sunday and was unable to return to the starting lineup. The severity of the injury was unknown at the time, but fortunately MRI and X-ray results have now confirmed he has avoided any serious damage. This is obviously a huge sigh of relief, but it does still put his availability against the Seattle Seahawks in doubt.
The Dallas Cowboys would obviously prefer to have Tyron Smith on the field not only this week against the Seahawks, but for what hopefully turns into a playoff run. There is a reason why he is regarded as one of the best left tackles in the entire NFL and unfortunately we have all seen what the Cowboys offense looks like without him in the lineup.
We would all like to forget how Chaz Green and Byron Bell performed as starters during the two games Smith missed back in November. It’s definitely not something we want to go through once again, but will Tyron Smith be able to tough it out once again?
By now it should be abundantly clear that the Dallas Cowboys must win the rest of season in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.
As slow as the coaching staff was to react in the Atlanta game, they should have a plan in place to help Byron with a TE or chipping from Zeke. I want Tyron to play on one hand, but on the other, I don’t want him to get injured further. Whether it is day-to-day or week-to-week, I think Mr. Smith is as valuable to the Cowboys as Aaron Rodgers is to the Packers. Aaron was put on IR. If we lose this week, then sit him or put him on IR or schedule surgery – whatever it takes!
What coaching staff? They are a joke…it takes you an ENTIRE game before you figure out your player needs help?
Dude, We are saying the same thing. It seems you needed to vent. Jerry is cool with Jason. There are 5 or 6 coaching slots up for contracts so I’m curious who will be let out to pasture.
Yeah his season will be over in 2 games…..
