The Dallas Cowboys are all over the place when it comes to success levels in various rounds of the NFL Draft. Some would say this is the easiest thing to do, but they dominate the First Round. In all fairness that success is balanced by their complete and utter failure in the Second Round, and what they’ve done in the Fifth Round hasn’t been worth bragging about either. Maybe America’s Team has chosen the Fourth Round to be their thing? Ryan Switzer on top of Dak Prescott could make that true.

As the rabid Dallas Cowboys fan that you are, you are undoubtedly ready to run through a wall at the notion of Ryan Switzer and Cole Beasley on the same field together. Go ahead, do it! I give you full permission (just don’t break anything… unless it’s expectations).
The Cowboys already have one of the more – some people believe number one – proficient slot receivers throughout the NFL in Cole Beasley, adding Ryan Switzer only adds to the threat levels of the opposing defense inside the middle of the field.

Switzer, who is a big fan of both The Office and The Bachelorette, is quickly becoming a fan-favorite due to his versatility as a wide receiver. While that’s fine and dandy, the person who needs to have him be a favorite about all else is Cowboys QB Dak Prescott.
It’s actually Prescott, the original 4th Round Success Story, that could be the “significant role” that the Cowboys have planned for Switzer. Dak Prescott has been criticized by some for his accuracy downfield, a claim that holds very little water. Let me be clear in that I’m not saying that Dak Prescott can’t throw downfield – he absolutely can – he just doesn’t need to exercise that level of his game very often.
The Cowboys like to destroy you in the middle of the field, which is why they have such an effective weapon for that preferred method in Cole Beasley. This is not the same game that the Atlanta Falcons – who people find much more sexy – employ, this is a game that is predicated on their control of the most variables possible. It’s about maximizing success.
Adding Ryan Switzer to that mix makes it virtually impossible to stop the Cowboys in the middle of the defense. Switzer obviously is added depth behind Beasley, but when they’re on the field simultaneously there simply won’t be enough manpower to cover such proficient slot guys and Dallas will move down the field, one first down at a time… a pace they’re fine with.
The “significant role” that Dallas has for Ryan Switzer can be simply defined. They’re adding to their arsenal. They have more weapons now. They are even more difficult to defend. Ryan Switzer on top of what the Cowboys already have is a defense’s worst nightmare.
I’ve been a football fan for 30odd years and most teams that go to super bowl have had a slot receiver who van find the open spot and move the chains when its third and six
