Dear Marion Barber,
I am writing you to let you and your agent know that this football team will go on with or without you. You have made it well-known that you want a long-term deal, and we are well prepared to give you just that. However if you continue to claim that you deserve a contract in the 60 million dollar range, we are well prepared to walk away. I want you to take care of you and keep you here, we think you are a fantastic running back, you are not however in the same league as Tomlinson, nor will we pay you that way.
I have come to the conclusion that you will stand firm to what you would like to be paid, therefore we have begun the process of finding your replacement if in fact this is the way you decide to go. I hope however that you read this and really think about your next move. You are a dynamic back when you are not asked to carry the load. When you can get no more than about 20 carries a game, you are very fierce, bone jarring, and strong. as we found out in the playoffs last year.Though when you are asked to carry the ball more than that you simply cannot maintain that pace, as shown here; 1st half in playoff game against Giants, 16 carries 101 yards, but in the second half you were worn out 11 carries 28 yards.
I understand that everyone wants to be the man, but we do not need you to be the man, just Marion Barber. You will however get some opportunities this year to prove you can carry the load.
