Randy Gregory to Miss Cowboys Training Camp; Longer Suspension Ahead

Sean Martin

Troubled Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Already serving a four game suspension to start 2016, for repeated violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, it has now been reported that Gregory has checked into a rehab facility – which means he will miss the Cowboys training camp, and a chance to get much-needed reps.

As if things couldn’t get much worse for the talented second year pass rusher, who was already looking at returning with tons of rust to shake off in week 5 of the 2016 season, it was then reported that this gloom reality may be shattered as well for Gregory.

With another failed test, Gregory would be hit with a 10 game suspension, similar to Cowboys’ middle linebacker Rolando McClain.

All of this news comes at a time that is supposed to be exciting for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans. The organization is in full Super Bowl mode with Tony Romo back in action, but the defense clearly has not gotten this message.

It is okay to be frustrated, Cowboys Nation. It is okay to expect much more, Cowboys Nation. It is okay to want this team to make an example out of Randy Gregory, and perhaps Rolando McClain, even if it means winning less on Sundays.

As this story develops, Inside The Star will keep you updated leading up to and through training camp.
