Hello Hump Day! I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty exhausted. I got the new Madden game yesterday and have already won Super Bowls 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, and 55 with the Dallas Cowboys. Get on my level!
While throwing 88 touchdowns to Dez Bryant in one game (I had it set on the hardest difficulty, I promise, I’m just that good) I couldn’t help but think about how great it’s going to be to see Dez throw up the x soon enough.
X marks the spot 18 days from now when the Dallas Cowboys will take on the New York Giants after Carrie Underwood gets going with the Sunday Night Football anthem. I have a feeling that I’ve lost your attention and you’re just now thinking about Madden and Carrie Underwood. Come back!

Today’s list is actually pretty fascinating as it boasts one active and one former member of the Dallas Cowboys Coaching Staff. Current fans will know Wade Wilson as the team’s quarterbacks coach, who’s probably got Jameill Showers and Dustin Vaughan running drills as we speak.
Chris Boniol served as an assistant special teams coach from 2010-2013 with the Cowboys and is currently in that role with the Oakland Raiders. Before he slipped on the coaching polo, Boniol wore 18 of the Dallas Cowboys better than anyone ever has.

An undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech, Chris Boniol signed with the Dallas Cowboys in 1994. Boniol went 22/29 on field goals during the 1994 season, but he really got going with a force the following year.
In 1995 the Dallas Cowboys were on a mission to avenge their NFC Championship Game loss of a year before. Chris Boniol was on a mission in the kicking game. He led the NFL in the percentage of Field Goals made with 96.4% as the Cowboys went on to win Super Bowl XXX.
Kicking Machine
The current Dallas Cowboys kicker, Dan Bailey, is one of the greatest in the history of football. Boniol can hang with him statistically. In Dallas Cowboys History, Chris Boniol ranks:
- 4th in Field Goals from 20-29 yards
- 3rd in Field Goals from 30-39 yards
- 3rd in total Field Goals made with 81
- 2nd in career Field Goal Percentage with 87.1%, trailing only the legendary foot of Dan Bailey
#18: Chris Boniol
During his three year tenure with the Dallas Cowboys Chris Boniol became the first Cowboy to have three consecutive 100-point seasons. The 1996 season saw Boniol successfully boot 27 straight Field Goals through the crossbars, a streak that lasted all the way until last season when Dan Bailey broke it.
It seems fitting that with the NFL making adjustments to the extra point attempt this season that a kicker or two (spoiler alert) make our Countdown To Kickoff series. Amidst a list with some pretty big names at backup quarterback, Chris Boniol tops them all as the Greatest 18 in Dallas Cowboys History.
