With the season-ending injury that occurred to Orlando Scandrick yesterday, it was bound to happen. Who will the Cowboys target? No one. Any chance the Cowboys will bring in Dennard? No. At least not now.
The Cowboys coaching staff is more than confident with the corners that they already have on the roster. They brought in Corey White and drafted Byron Jones in the 1st round of the 2015 draft for a reason.I know that you probably don’t want to hear his name, but the coaching staff also has confidence in the now healthy Morris Claiborne, not to mention Tyler Patmon returning for his 2nd year.
When asked about the Cowboys plans going forward, coach Henderson said that Claiborne would take over the right cornerback position and Patmon would be the replacement option in the slot. It was also stated that White and Jones will continue to see work at safety and corner
A lot has been said about the poor play of Brandon Carr recently, but if you go back to last year, Carr played extremely well the last month of the season and into the playoffs. He primarily covered Jordy Nelson in the Green Bay game and held him to two receptions with 22 yards. While he was slowed recently by a broken hand he returned to practice yesterday and is looking to continue to build on the success that he ended 2014.
There are still have two preseason games before the regular season begins. Starting this Saturday when the Cowboys take the field against the Vikings for their dress rehearsal game of the preseason. The Cowboys have been building the roster and acquiring depth for this very situation.
Come Saturday when the Cowboys take the field, like the coaching staff always says Next man Up.
