With training camp just a few days away, the Dallas Cowboys are expected to make a roster move and sign veteran offensive tackle Cameron Bradfield.
Bradfield signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011 after going undrafted and started 27 of 41 career games at both left and right tackle during his three full seasons with the Jaguars organization.
Bradfield was released from the Jaguars in September of 2014 and then signed with the Atlanta Falcons after tackle Lamar Holmes was placed on IR. He was eventually released in November of 2014 in order to activate safety William Moore.
Bradford was signed to a reserve/future contract with the Arizona Cardinals in January of 2015, but once again was released and did not play in the 2015 season.
Cameron Bradfield was among a handful of free agents that had a scheduled workout with the Dallas Cowboys back in June.
Bradfield will likely be competing for the swing tackle position against Charles Brown, who was re-signed on a one-year deal back in March after being the Cowboys swing tackle in 2015. He will also be competing against Chaz Green, the team’s third-round draft pick in 2015.
The signing of Bradfield doesn’t exactly sound like a ringing endorsement for Chaz Green, who was expected to compete with Doug Free for the rights to be the starter at right tackle. Green has struggled with injuries and as a result had to miss the majority of the 2015 season in order to recover from hip surgery.
To make room for Cameron Bradfield the Cowboys will have to create an opening on their 90-man roster.
