The Dallas Cowboys are America’s Team, and nothing proves that more than this statistic from the 2015 regular season. The top three most watched games this season around the NFL involved the Cowboys – and all three of them were Dallas losses.
Topping the list at an average of 32.5 million viewers was the Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game against the Carolina Panthers. This game always draws high ratings, thanks to the Cowboys being one of the only teams’ in action on this holiday.

Second on the list at 29.4 million was the Seattle Seahawks week 8 visit to AT&T Stadium, which ended in another Cowboys heartbreak and 13-12 Seattle win. Still, the defending NFC Champions taking a visit to Jerry World to play a team expected to contend for their conference crown – as well as a team that went into Seattle and won last season – drew plenty of ratings across the country.
The last game comes in just short of the Seahawks loss, as 28.9 million people tuned into the Cowboys latest trip to Lambeau Field in week 14. The game lost some appeal without Tony Romo being able to play – which effectively limited Dez Bryant in his “revenge game”. The Cowboys offense once again did not do much of anything in this game, as they lost 28-7.
Coming from a diehard Cowboys fan, I’ll be the first to admit that as a whole, this team was not very exciting to watch in 2015.
Yes they have plenty of bright spots for next season, and certainly gave us plenty of late game heart-stopping moments, but the weekly product they put out was anything but the league’s best – highlighted by the play of backup quarterbacks Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel and Kellen Moore.
Still, there’s something about the Boys in silver and blue that draws attention from around the league – for better or worse. Here’s to keeping these viewing numbers up in 2016, while showing America what the Dallas Cowboys are all about.
