Cowboys Place Romo On Short-Term Injured Reserve

Shane Denney

First reported by Todd Archer, and now made official, as expected the Dallas Cowboys will be placing Tony Romo on the short-term injured reserved list with a broken collarbone. The move means Romo will miss eight weeks (seven Games) and will be eligible to return on November 22nd, against the Miami Dolphins.

The move makes sense since it will open up a roster spot for the Cowboys to add a backup quarterback behind Brandon Weeden who will assume the role as the Cowboys starter.

Whether that be bringing up Kellen Moore from the practice squad, or signing a free agent. As a side note, the Cowboys brought in Christian Ponder, Matt Flynn, Josh Johnson and McLeod Bethel-Thompson for tryouts today.

While the Cowboys wait for Romo to return, the Cowboys will rely on their defense to continue with their outstanding play and the best offensive line in football to open running lanes and keep Weeden upright.
