Yvette James is joining us to break down the Fantasy Football implications of the Dallas Cowboys vs the Baltimore Ravens.
John (ITS): Thanks for taking the time to join us here at Inside The Star for our fantasy football Q&A. I’m looking forward to learning more about the Baltimore Ravens.
Q: Joe Flacco and the Ravens tie for last in the NFL with nine touchdown passes. As we know here in Dallas, there are a lot of things that go into making a passing game work. What’s going on in the Baltimore Ravens passing game?
Yvette James (NFLFemale.com): The passing game has been struggling due to the recent injuries to the offense line, which has left Flacco with little time to throw. I believe once Baltimore gets healthy up front, the passing game will improve.
The wide receivers (Mike Wallace, Steve Smith Sr., Kamar Aiken, Breshad Perriman) haven’t been getting open and that has also hurt the passing game.
John (ITS): Baltimore has a bit of talent at wide receiver, but if they aren’t getting open, that certainly makes it difficult for a team to have much success in the passing game.
Q: If you had to choose between the Baltimore pass catchers, who to you is the most reliable?
Yvette James (NFLFemale.com): It is hard to say because there are several (reliable receivers), but the most reliable one is Steve Smith, when healthy.
Smith is the one who you can count on to be in the right place, even when being double-teamed. He will fight through those double teams.
John (ITS): Hard to believe that Steve Smith is still going strong at age 37. Pretty incredible when you think about it.
Q: Turning to the running back position, for the rest of the season, who would you rather have; Terrance West or Kenneth Dixon?
Yvette James (NFLFemale.com): I love them both because they both have different styles and that makes them hard to bring down. So hard to choose, but I would choose Dixon because he doesn’t show any quit when he is running the football.
John (ITS): Rookie running back Kenneth Dixon is certainly a name that many Dallas Cowboys fans became familiar with during the draft process.
Q: The Baltimore Ravens seem to have one of the best defenses in the NFL in 2016. What has made them so good?
Yvette James (NFLFemale.com): The Defense this year has been good because the young guys are hungry and have been able to step in when a veteran guy has been injured.
With Dean Pees calling the plays and a “next man up” philosophy, this defense is showing similar flashes of the defense that led them to a Super Bowl victory in 2000.
Q: The defense’s numbers certainly show up when you look at Baltimore this year, and I think that is going to be biggest challenge for the Dallas Cowboys this week. How do you see the game playing out?
Yvette James (NFLFemale.com): My prediction for the game is 37-34 Ravens. As long as our offensive line holds up, we will get the win. I’m always bias when it comes to my team. Win or lose, I’m a Ravens fan until I die.
John (ITS): That is certainly a bold prediction. We here in Cowboys Nation really hope that you’re wrong. Be on the lookout for my prediction coming out this Sunday.
