With their lack of pass rush evident for some time now, the Dallas Cowboys defensive strategy has adapted to putting the most athletic tacklers all over the field and limiting big plays. Although seemingly set at linebacker with Sean Lee and a ready-to-play Jaylon Smith headlining a group with plenty of depth behind them, Temple’s Haason Reddick may be too good of a talent and scheme fit to pass on in the first round.
With the ability to stand up at WILL linebacker and cover while also helping the Cowboys pass rush as a situational edge rusher, Haason Reddick would be a welcome addition to America’s Team.

Haason Reddick will instantly add a burst of athleticism to any front seven come draft night, with the tenacity to win on the edge as well.
This film clip and quote comes from my complete scouting report on Haason Reddick at Slant Sports. In 2016, the Cowboys secondary was surprisingly one of their strengths, but the unit is facing some uncertainty in free agency.
The best way for Dallas to keep their passing defense as a strength may be to add Reddick in the second level, who uses his fluid hips to cover all the way up field – adding the length to explode to the ball.
…he is as fluid of an athlete as there is in this draft defensively – showcasing elite balance on plays like this in carrying a back up the field.
Where Haason Reddick can make the biggest day one impact with the Dallas Cowboys is with his pass rush ability off the edge. More than capable of holding his own as a strong left end or speed rushing right end, Reddick wins at defensive end thanks mostly to his relentless motor.

With his hand in the dirt, Reddick displays adequate lower body strength and drive to win up field before being able to use his arm length and quickness to battle back to the football.
To go with this non-stop motor, Reddick actually displays a decent array of rush moves – at his best when he can use his burst and lower body to set up offensive tackles going up the field.
Once getting blockers off-balance, Reddick can use his long arms to fight back to the ball with pure strength along with some dip around the corner.
…his testing backs the positive traits that any team will welcome to their front seven after watching his high motor and constant effort.

A firm believer in the draft philosophy that if a team feels they are set at a certain position they should add another top talent to it, the Cowboys are well off enough at linebacker to cover up some of his issues in form tackling and rallying to the ball at WILL – while also desperately in need of his flash plays off the edge.
Earning a second round grade on my 2017 NFL Draft Board, Haason Reddick is a name to know for the Dallas Cowboys with the 28th overall pick.
So if you play him at Will, where do.you play Sean Lee?
MIKE on that particular play, since Marinelli plays with just 2 LBs most of the time, or you mostly keep Lee at WILL and Reddick at DE.
Yeah that’s right since most of 3rd time there are 2LB’s and 5 DB’s on the field. I definitely like Reddick a lot and he really helped his stock a lot at the Combine. May be a little bit of a gamble at #28 and don’t really see him available at #60.
