Dallas Cowboys Set to Pick at 4 in the 2016 NFL Draft

Because the 2015 NFL season is over, it’s officially Draft Season, a time where many analysts and journalists love. With over 500 collegiate prospects looking for homes by the start date of the 2016 NFL season, the draft is the time where the Dallas Cowboys can not only ensure future success, but also add the right pieces that can help them in the now.

Star quarterback Tony Romo played in four games this season. In those four games, Romo led the Cowboys to a 3-1 record. However, when the Cowboys were without Romo, they had a 1-11 record. While the 2015 season was a mess, the one silver lining from it is that the Cowboys will receive a higher draft pick and by losing in Week 17 against the Washington Redskins, they wrapped up their draft position, hosting the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Despite being a team that can make a long playoff run if healthy, the Cowboys have a ton of holes and by having the fourth overall pick in the draft, the Cowboys will be able to get one of the premier players from this draft class.

In terms of needs, the time is now for the Cowboys to look into getting their quarterback of the future. That means either Jared Goff or Paxton Lynch are in the cards. However, the Cowboys have a ton of other needs, the main ones being cornerback, wide receiver, and defensive tackle. In fact, trading back and getting the top running back in the draft in Ezekiel Elliott would also make some sense to me.

It’s impossible to predict who exactly the Cowboys will want to draft, especially with so much offseason in between, but the fact of the matter is that the Cowboys are in prime position to bring in a player that can immediately help this franchise, and that’s truly all that matters. Be prepared for a long and fun draft season.
