Dallas Cowboys Week 3 Fantasy Football Review

John Williams

Week three for the Dallas Cowboys was not only a really good week for the real team, but a good week for your fantasy football teams as well.

The offense didn’t seem to miss a beat with La’el Collins and Tyron Smith on the sideline. Yes, the Chicago Bears were missing half of their defense, but the Dallas Cowboys took advantage of it all night.

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott was again really, really good. He totaled 23.5 fantasy points by throwing for 248 yards, rushing for one touchdown, and throwing his first career NFL touchdown. Prescott seems to get better with each and every start and for as long as Tony Romo is injured, he will be worth consideration in your starting lineup.

Ezekiel Elliott

During the week leading up to week three, many Cowboys fans were clamoring for running back Alfred Morris to become the starting running back, despite only accounting for seven yards on five carries.

If only we could ask them their opinion after they saw Ezekiel Elliott in week three.

Ezekiel Elliott saw 30 carries and rushed for 140 yards, catching two passes for 20 yards as well. He didn’t reach the end zone for the first game in his career, but he showed he has the toughness, durability, and ability to be a lead runner in the NFL.

Alfred Morris

Any thoughts of Alfred Morris taking over for Ezekiel Elliott were misguided. Alfred Morris is a good player, but Elliott is a dynamic player who will one day be great.

Morris’ best shot at scoring fantasy points for you is through the vulture role.

What is a fantasy football vulture? A running back getting goal line touchdowns when the lead back does the work to get you down the field. For two weeks in a row, Morris gets touchdowns from inside the five yard line.

Lance Dunbar

Lance Dunbar gets a mention here, only because he played the vulture role as well. He had one carry, but zero targets in the passing game.

Dez Bryant

Cowboys Headlines - Dez Bryant and La'el Collins to Have MRIs Following Cowboys WinDez Bryant must not have a human right leg. The way that right leg bent should not be possible, but coming back into the game after that? Straight ridiculous.

Pretty sure I would need a leg transplant.

In the game, Bryant saw six targets, and caught three passes for forty yards and a touchdown. Not a great day, but solid.

Dak Prescott isn’t forcing the football to any one player, and so there may be weeks when Dez Bryant underperforms your fantasy site’s projections.

Dez Bryant is still a must-start.

Cole Beasley

Fantasy Football - #DallasCowboys Week 3 Fantasy Football ReviewCole Beasley after three weeks leads the Dallas Cowboys in targets (25), receptions (20), and yards (213).

Yes, you read that right.

On a team with Dez Bryant and Jason Witten, Cole Beasley is the leading receiver on this team after three weeks. This isn’t a fluke at this point. He’s on pace for 106 catches and 1,136 yards this season. Those numbers would surpass his career highs by a lot.

He is a must-start in PPR leagues and in 12-team standard leagues.

Terrance Williams

Man, Terrance Williams just can’t get out of his own way. He was having a really good night. Williams finished with four catches on four targets for 88 yards. That’s a solid line. But that fumble was rough.

He will have his moments, but Terrance Williams has fallen in the pecking order of target priorities.

Jason Witten

Not a great day for Jason Witten, but don’t write him off just yet. Don’t forget, in week one Jason Witten saw 14 targets. He’s going to be alright. Witten is still a low-end TE 1 in 10-team leagues. Outside of the top three, tight end is a difficult position to predict.

Dan Bailey

Dan Bailey missed a field goal…

I hope you remember where you were when that happened, because it won’t happen very often. You’ll want to remember so you can tell your grandkids about it.

Nothing to worry about. Keep starting Dan Bailey in every format.

Dallas Defense

This defense is playing the way they played in 2014.

The Dallas Cowboys Defense is making plays at the right time.

They didn’t finish the pass rush with any sacks, but they forced four fumbles and recovered two of them. It may not always be pretty, but the Dallas Cowboys are playing well enough to win.
