Your Dallas Cowboys Kicker

Dan Bailey

If you are reading this site, you are likely a Dallas Cowboys fan. If you are a Dallas Cowboys fan, I probably don’t have to tell you how good Dan Bailey is.

Just in case you are reading this and you are not a Dallas Cowboys fan and you don’t know how good Dan Bailey is, let me be the one to tell you: Dan Bailey is great.

The most accurate kicker in NFL history and the only one with a career field goal percentage above 90% (90.6%).

Cowboys Draft - Beyond the Clock: Cowboys Undrafted Wonder, Dan Bailey 1In 2016, he had his most accurate year yet making 93.8% of his kicks.

If you own him, start him.

One to Start

Greg Zuerlein, Los Angeles Rams

Cowboys Headlines - Fantasy Football Kicker Rankings - Week 1 1The Los Angeles Rams look like a grind-it-out team.

They have one of the best young running backs in the NFL in Todd Gurley, and they don’t have much else on offense. The defense features one of the best defensive lines in football.

They have a coach in Jeff Fisher who has focused the offensive game plan around the run for much of his career.

So, because of their inadequacies, especially with Case Keenum at quarterback, Los Angeles is going to be in grind-it-out mode.

They have an offense that can get into the scoring half of the field, but also an offense that will stall out a lot. This is where starting Greg Zuerlein is going to be to your advantage.

In 2013 Greg Zuerlein converted 92.9% of his field goal attempts and 100% of his extra points. 2014 and 2015 saw his field goal percentage drop to 80% and 66.7%, respectively. Zuerlein is in need of a bounce-back season, and I think 2016 will be just that.

Flawless Fantasy Forecast: 4/4 on field goal attempts and 1/1 on extra points.

One to Sit

Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers

Mason Crosby is a great kicker and I’m probably not going to be able to talk you into sitting him, but I’m gonna try anyway.

For a kicker, you want them to be tied to a good offense, but do you want them to be tied to a great offense? That’s a tough question.

The Green Bay Packers, led by Aaron Rodgers, are going to make a lot of trips into the scoring half of the field and a lot of those will end in touchdowns.

Facing the Jacksonville Jaguars in week one leads me to think there will be more extra point opportunities than field goal opportunities. Jacksonville has made improvements on defense, but they still need to gel, and they get a difficult week one task facing the Packers.

Green Bay could easily get to 30 points in this game, and I think there will be more touchdowns than field goals. Fantasy Football kickers are valuable for their field goal attempts, so sit Him.

Flawless Fantasy Forecast: 5/5 on extra point attempts. 0/1 on field goal attempts.
