Your Dallas Cowboys Quarterback
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins
Consensus Ranking: 21
My Ranking: 25
As far as a rookie making his first start in the NFL, Dak Prescott represented himself pretty well.
He only completed 55% of his passes and had a quarterback rating under 70, but he didn’t turn the ball over. More importantly, he looked like he belonged under center for a National Football League team.
He was unlucky on Dez Bryant‘s would-be touchdown catch. Then he was a little too high on his pass to Cole Beasley, though it was a catchable ball that Beasley should have had.
All in all, there were a lot of encouraging signs in his first NFL start.
As a Fantasy Football quarterback, this will be the week that I start him. He faces a Washington Redskins team that wasn’t very good on defense in 2015. They finished 8th in passing yards allowed and 7th in rushing yards allowed.
It’s a team that spent big money and added All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman. They’re going to be without Junior Galette for all of 2016 and Ryan Kerrigan is limited by a groin injury. Those two guys are important cogs in their pass rush.
If you need Dak Prescott, this might be the week to start him. Many of you might need Dak with Andrew Luck facing the Denver Broncos, Russell Wilson hampered by an ankle injury, and Aaron Rodgers facing the tough Minnesota Vikings defense.
In the dynasty league where I have Dak Prescott and Tony Romo, I’m considering plugging in Prescott over Andrew Luck. Stay tuned to my twitter, @john9williams to find out.
One to Start
Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons at Oakland Raiders
Expert Consensus Rank: 18
My Rank: 10
Matt Ryan may have found his stride back to fantasy relevance after his week one performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In week two, Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons travel to California to face the Oakland Raiders.
The Oakland Raiders are coming off of a week one win that saw New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees throw for 423 yards and four touchdowns. Brees was sacked only once and did not throw an interception.
With the addition of Mohammed Sanu, the Atlanta Falcons look like they found someone to take the pressure off of Ryan and star wide receiver Julio Jones. The Falcons had five players catch 4 or more passes and four of them had more than 50 yards receiving.
The New Orleans Saints in week one against the Oakland Raiders had three players catch 6 or more passes and 2 go over 150 yards.
Matt Ryan, now with a plethora of receiving options, will have a field day in Oakland. Start him in all leagues.
Flawless Fantasy Forecast: 25/40 for 330 yards passing and 4 touchdowns.
One to Sit
Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos
Expert Consensus Rank: 14
My Ranking: 13
Andrew Luck erupted in week one against the Detroit Lions for 385 yards passing and four scores. The Denver Broncos are not the Detroit Lions.
Though the Broncos lost some players in free agency, they still have a tremendous pass rush. In week one, hosting the Carolina Panthers, the Denver Broncos recorded three sacks on Cam Newton.
Newton also failed to pass for more than 200 yards and finished with a passer rating of 69.5.
The Indianapolis Colts quarterback has had better success against the Broncos, but I foresee a down week for Andrew Luck.
Flawless Fantasy Forecast: 20/45 240 yards passing, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
