Your Dallas Cowboys Wide Receivers
Dez Bryant
Not good. Not good at all. Dez Bryant only saw five targets. That’s 11% of Dak Prescott‘s attempted passes.
For reference: Cole Beasley saw 26.7% and Jason Witten saw 31% of the targets for week one.
In his week one matchup against the Washington Redskins, Pittsburgh Wide Receiver Antonio Brown saw 29.7% of his team’s targets. Odell Beckham Jr. saw 28.6% of Eli Manning’s targets in the New York Giants week one win over Dallas.
Going into week two, we in Cowboys land can only hope the Dallas Cowboys’ coaching staff will figure out a way to throw the ball to Dez Bryant that isn’t 40 yards downfield.
This week, the Dallas Cowboys will face a Washington Redskins defense that just got torched by the Pittsburgh Steelers for 300 yards passing and nearly 150 yards rushing.
Bryant will likely draw a Josh Norman matchup (who they avoided using on Antonio Brown for some odd reason), and if that is the case, it may be a rough day for Bryant and the Dallas offense.
Continue to start Dez Bryant. He is a must start who had a bad week one.
Terrance Williams
Despite the boneheaded mistake at the end of the game, Terrance Williams had an okay game on Sunday.
On four targets, Williams had three catches for 34 yards.
Against Washington, Williams will likely get the opportunity to play against Bashaud Breeland, who was just roasted by Antonio Brown on Monday Night Football.
Williams won’t have a game like Brown, but he’ll have 60-80 yards on four or five catches. Terrance Williams will be a sneaky flex play this week in 12 team leagues or deeper.
Cole Beasley
Only two other times has Cole Beasley received 10 or more targets in his career.
Both were losses.
Beasley is an effective player for Dallas, but if he is getting targeted often, then nothing is opening up downfield. And downfield is where the Dallas Cowboys really win with Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams.
Beasley will probably get at least 7 targets again, and with his 66% career catch rate, he’d be in line for four or five catches. That puts him more in line with his career averages.
Dak Prescott was willing to take what the defense gave him. That meant a lot of underneath routes in the 4-11 yard range. I don’t expect Cole Beasley to be as heavily targeted in week two. If he is, that means Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams weren’t able to win their match ups downfield.
In 12 and 14 team PPR leagues, Beasley is a really good flex option moving forward.
One to watch
Brice Butler
Brice Butler had one catch on two targets for 16 yards. Dallas needs to figure out how to get the ball downfield, and Butler is a receiver who can win downfield.
One to Start
Tajae Sharpe, Tennessee Titans vs the Detroit Lions
Expert Consensus Ranking: 40
My Ranking: 47
Against the tough Minnesota Vikings defense in week one, Tajae Sharpe led the Titans with 11 targets. He turned that into seven catches for 76 yards.
Coming out of the University of Massachusetts, Sharpe was an intriguing prospect. He had huge numbers, and offers great size. The worry was talent and competition. All offseason, all he has done is impress. Look for Sharpe to continue to lead the Titans in targets. Marcus Mariota really likes him and trusts him.
Andrew Luck, for the Indianapolis Colts, threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns against the Detroit Lions in week one.
Flawless Forecast: six catches, 104 yards and two touchdowns.
One to Sit
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs the Arizona Cardinals

My Ranking: 13
Mike Evans is an amazing wide receiver. He is one of my favorite fantasy assets. He has big-play ability matched with strong red zone work. It took Evans a while to get going in week one versus the Atlanta Falcons, but he finished with a really solid outing; five catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.
The Buccaneers have a really good passing offense, but in week two they are going up against one of the best defenses in the NFL; the Arizona Cardinals.
The Arizona Cardinals feature some of the best defensive backs in the NFL; Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, and Tony Jefferson. They are really difficult to throw against.
In week one, the Cardinals were beat by the New England Patriots, but there wasn’t a Patriots wide receiver who had more than 66 receiving yards.
Tampa Bay likes to take the ball deep, and I worry that Jameis Winston and the offense isn’t going to get the time or space to go deep.
Flawless Forecast: Four catches for 55 yards, and zero touchdowns.
