First Look At Ezekiel Elliott’s Touchdown Celebration

Brian Martin

Quickly, how many total rushing touchdowns did the Dallas Cowboys have in 2015?

Did you know that it was just eight?

Joseph Randle accumulated four rushing touchdowns before he was ultimately cut. Darren McFadden may have run for over 1000 rushing yards, but only found the end zone three times. Robert Turbin in his short time with the team finished with one touchdown.

That is completely unacceptable for a team that wants to be dominant in the running game in order to open up the passing game and control the clock. That is the blueprint they used in 2014 that worked so well for them. It helped them go 8-0 on the road and also helped them finish with a 12-4 winning record.

Fortunately, for the Dallas Cowboys and us fans, the rushing game should be much better in 2016 with Ezekiel Elliott handling the majority of the carries. He is a much better fit for the zone blocking scheme that the team uses and should be able to be an immediate impact player as a rookie.

Honestly, I think Elliott could possibly score more rushing touchdowns in the first half of the season than the entire team scored in 2015. Elliott will more than likely get the majority of the short yardage/goal line opportunities.

In fact, Elliott found pay dirt 23 times last season as a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes. The previous season he found the end zone 18 times, so he’s no stranger to scoring touchdowns.

Thanks to Twitter we may just have gotten the first look at Elliot’s touchdown celebration.

No disrespect to Elliott, but I think his touchdown celebration needs a little work.

Where is the enthusiasm? Where is the showmanship?

Of course, it really just looks like he has kind of goofing off, but it will be really interesting to see his go to touchdown celebration once the season kicks off. I’m sure once he’s in a game situation and finds himself in the end zone he will be full of enthusiasm and showmanship, and that his touchdown celebration will feed off of those emotions.

Hopefully, it is a celebration that will see early and often, especially considering the fact that we know that the Cowboys plan on putting an emphasis on the running game once again like they did back in 2014.

Then again, Elliott never really was much on celebrating after scoring a touchdown in college. He usually just tossed the ball to an official or celebrated with his teammates. So, all this talk about his touchdown celebration may mean next to nothing.

I may be a little old school, but I think I actually prefer him giving the ball to an official. Often times, I find the way some players celebrate after making a sack or scoring a touchdown somewhat unsportsmanlike. I just think it takes a little bit away from the game, but that could just be me.

So, what your thoughts on Elliot’s touchdown celebration? Do you like it or do you think he needs to come up with something else?
