“Legion Of Whom?” Twitter Coins New Nickname For Cowboys Defense

Kevin Brady

Coming into the 2016 NFL season, many of us weren’t sure what to expect from the Dallas Cowboys.

While we loved the talent and firepower offensively, it was about to be commanded by a fourth round rookie quarterback and a rookie running back as well.

On defense, the Cowboys were without the big name players which units like the Seattle Seahawks “Legion of Boom” possess.

Well, at least to this point, this Cowboys defense is outplaying all expectations which were set of them. I, like many others, expected this unit to be last in almost every defensive statistic. My only hope was that the somewhat solid secondary could hold up just enough to keep the Cowboys in games.

So far, thankfully, I have been so wrong.

The only thing this Cowboys defense is missing (outside of a pass rush) is a cool nickname to go with their success. Yesterday, Cowboys Twitter once again came through with some absolute gold, naming this 2016 version of the no-name defense the “Legion of Whom?”

Of course, many of the Cowboys faithful could probably name each and every defensive starter and rotational player on the roster. But those who aren’t as plugged into this team as us have absolutely no idea who Anthony Brown is, or when Morris Claiborne became a good cornerback again.

So, the play from the Cowboys defense has left just about everybody startled. Now, they are forced to sit back and ask themselves “who the heck is out here covering Jordy Nelson and AJ Green so effectively?”

Well, NFL world, that would be this stellar Cowboys defense, also known as the Legion of Whom.
