In my scouting report for Clemson running back Wayne Gallman above, I highlighted the National Champion running back’s ability to play as a complete player with some unique NFL traits.

In need of depth behind Ezekiel Elliott, I don’t think it would surprise many people if the Cowboys add another cheap rookie in the draft to come run behind the Space Cowboys. What would be surprising is them potentially prioritizing the position enough to grab Wayne Gallman where I have him on my 2017 NFL Draft Board – firmly holding a second round grade.

Likely drafting a round behind on their board anyway thanks to their draft positioning, the Cowboys would almost certainly have to spend their 60th overall pick on Gallman.

I see Wayne Gallman as a much more serviceable and dynamic replacement to Lance Dunbar. A physical runner that can punish defenses when given a step to hit the hole, Gallman also was featured in Clemson’s spread attack as a comfortable pass catcher and effort blocker.

There is no question that Jason Garrett’s Cowboys are committed to having success offensively by running the football. Depending on if they target a player like Gallman or not, we’ll see just how far that commitment goes.

    • Thank you for reading, Kevin. I’m happy to be wrong about Jones, seeing a lot of analysts really like him, but I just don’t see a player set up to succeed in the NFL. Caught everything at ECU though, tough pro evaluation.

      • Small school players are always the hardest to gauge. Out of all the positions on the field though, it seems WR succeeds the most from the small schools. If the skills are there, they seem to thrive. Other positions are littered with failed experiments. Still, no guarantee either way, but with certain teams always in love with small school prospects, I can’t see Jones make it to day 3.
