Cowboys Sophomores: WR Lucky Whitehead

When you look at the projected starters for the 2016 Dallas Cowboys on offense, it is difficult to look past QB Tony Romo, WR Dez Bryant, and now rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott. For Offensive Coordinator Scott Linehan, these are the three players that will most closely determine the success of the Dallas offense. However, a healthy passing duo of Romo and Bryant combined with the rushing attack Elliott will provide certainly opens up opportunities for other players to thrive against unsuspecting defenses. Perhaps no player on the roster fits this role better than Lucky Whitehead at the moment. Signed as an undrafted free agent entering 2015, Whitehead found his role by contributing mostly as a kickoff return specialist early in the year.

Sundays Without Football: Lucky Whitehead Hits The Streets Of Dallas

June 5th marked the first Sunday in which Cowboys Nation was officially inside of 100 days left until America’s Team hits the field for the first time in 2016. It was actually 98 days, or 14 weeks, until the toe meets the ball at AT&T Stadium with the New York Giants in town. So think back to what you were doing this past Sunday late in the afternoon and fast forward till then… you’ll be watching the Dallas Cowboys racing across the field in their trademark white uniforms. If you were strolling around Dallas this past Sunday then you might’ve actually seen a Dallas Cowboy racing around town wearing something white – Lucky Whitehead in a Ferrari!

Lucky Whitehead: Is An Expanded Role With Cowboys Ahead?

Earning a roster spot in the NFL isn’t easy, and keeping that roster spot is even harder. Year in and year out, players are fighting for their NFL lives and they all know that their job security is teetering, knowing that the slightest tip of the scale can end their professional careers. Rookies are just hoping to begin their careers, while some veterans are coming to the end of theirs. For those players that enter the league as undrafted free agents, this is especially true. They have to fight harder than anybody to prove themselves and hope they get a chance to catch the attention of the coaches.

2016 Breakout Candidates: Lucky Whitehead

As we look ahead to a new season it’s always interesting to project players who could take a major step in their careers. Sometimes this is an obvious expectation, such as with Byron Jones becoming a full-time starter in his second season. Others, though, are not as obvious and may take a very specific set of circumstances to develop. With roughly two months to go before the start of training camp I thought I’d spend some time profiling Cowboys who could become major factors in the coming season. I’m going to start today with an emerging offensive weapon and potential special teams ace:

Five Offensive Players That Need To Step Up In 2016

The 2015 season is over thankfully and we can put the past behind us and turn our focus to what lies ahead in the upcoming season. Year in and year out, organizations around the league have to continuously tinker with the roster in order to hopefully put together the best 53 man squad as possible. Well, I decided to take a look at the roster and share with you five players that I think need to step up their game in 2016 in order to secure a roster spot. Not all of these players are in jeopardy of losing their jobs, but through improved play they should be able to not only make the 53 man roster, but earn more playing time. Devin Street, WR (6’3″, 200) Devin Street will be entering his third season in the NFL, but is already facing an uphill battle to the make the Cowboys roster.

Are The Dallas Cowboys Set At Wide Receiver?

One of the more interesting aspects of the NFL off-season to me is analyzing each individual position and then determining whether or not that particular position is in need of an upgrade. So far, the Dallas Cowboys have done a pretty good job of filling holes through free … Read more

NFL Rule Changes Are NOT Improvements

Two major rules changes have come out of the NFL Owners’ Meetings today; a one-year trial for a new player ejection policy and moving touchbacks to the 25-yard line. Earlier in the week we also had “clarification” on what constitutes a catch. For my reaction, a picture is worth … Read more

10 Thoughts As I Reflect On The 2015 Dallas Cowboys

Defensive Tackles Should Do More Than Just Plug Holes In 2016, I think it’s time this coaching staff begins to value the 1-technique. Nick Hayden, while a serviceable player, doesn’t really give you much. Yea he will plug the middle fine, but he is by no means an … Read more
