Price Per Yard: 2014 Dallas Cowboys Among Best In NFL History

Go back to the year 2014 with me. Disney’s Frozen opens the year as the number-one film in the United States (Thank God we let that go, just kidding the soundtrack is amazing), “Happy” by Pharrell is the number one song of the year (you can clap along if you feel … Read more

Tyron Smith Ready To Anchor Offensive Line in 2016

Tyron Smith means so much to the Dallas Cowboys. Top-end starters at left tackle are beyond invaluable in this league to protect franchise quarterbacks. Smith is that guy for the Cowboys, but he also means so much more to the rest of Dallas’ star-studded offensive line. Since 2011, … Read more

Introducing Price Per Yard: Evaluating the 2013 NFL Season

The Dallas Cowboys are really good at running the football. In 2014, DeMarco Murray, with a Star on his helmet, produced more yards than anyone in the NFL. 2015 saw Darren McFadden, sporting the blue and silver, earn more yards than all but three NFL running backs. This … Read more

Cowboys Sophomores: OL Chaz Green

Collectively, Tyron Smith, La’el Collins, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, and Doug Free make up the dominant offensive line for the Dallas Cowboys – the pride and soul of this football team. When Jason Garrett and the Cowboys committed to building this unit, they did so with a run of first round picks that has established Dallas’ identity for years to come. However, the Cowboys are going to have to be smart about the way they go about building the sustainability of this offensive line. While most of the guys mentioned above are set in stone, the backups currently on the roster will all be fighting for their spots come training camp. One such player is Chaz Green, who was drafted in the third round by the Cowboys in 2015.

Cowboys Mini-Camp: Day 3 Takeaways

The next time we will see the Cowboys on the practice field will be for training camp in Oxnard, California. By that time, the preparation for the 2016 season will be in full force, and the position battles across the field will be heated. For now, the Cowboys have concluded mini camp, with DallasCowboys.com once again bringing us a glimpse of Thursday’s historic practice. Here are my final thoughts on what fans were able to see.

Where Does Chaz Green Fit in Offensive Line?

One of the big mysteries on the Dallas Cowboys roster right now is offensive lineman Chaz Green. Is he a guard? Is he a tackle? Does he have any shot at being a significant player this season? A third-round pick in last year’s draft, Green was essentially “redshirted” in 2015 with a known hip issue that required surgery.

Cowboys Mini-Camp: Day 1 Takeaways

The Dallas Cowboys took the field yesterday for the first day of mini camp, with familiar faces on both sides of the ball like Tony Romo, Tyrone Crawford, Morris Claiborne, and Ezekiel Elliott – who have all been at every team practice this summer. Unfamiliar faces like Rolando McClain and Ronald Leary also arrived to Valley Ranch, where the practices are now mandatory. Head Coach Jason Garrett took to the podium and started off a day that would mostly be negative for the Cowboys though, as he announced the injuries to RB Darren McFadden and DE Benson Mayowa. Click here for more on the current status of both players.  The not-so-great day continued for the Cowboys when the helmets went on for practice.

Cowboys Mini-Camp: Will Rolando McClain and Ronald Leary Report?

Plenty of players haven’t been practicing with the Cowboys over the last few weeks.  Sean Lee, DeMarcus Lawrence, Dez Bryant, and others have been nursing lingering injuries and recovering from offseason procedures. However, two players have been away for other reasons; linebacker Rolando McClain and guard Ronald Leary. Starting today, the Cowboys’ practices go from voluntary to mandatory. Per Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk, players who miss this three-day mini-camp are subject to a total fine of $76,580 if they miss the entire camp.

NFC East Position Rankings: Offensive Line

Last time, we finally dove into the analysis of the NFC East’s linemen. Though we started by taking a look at what many consider the more “athletic” bigs, let’s now rank the big uglies across this division. Dallas Cowboys After talking about the potentially disastrous defensive line last time, let’s move on to greener pastures in Dallas. I don’t know if any offensive line on the planet is discussed more than the Dallas Cowboys’ “Great Wall of Dallas.” Of course, Travis Frederick anchors the middle as the center, Zack Martin and La’el Collins start as the guards, and Doug Free and Tyron Smith serve as the starting tackles.

Ezekiel Elliott And Cowboys OL Make Deadly Combination

Stating that the Dallas Cowboys have the best offensive line in the entire NFL may sound a bit redundant, but I honestly believe that they will look even more dominant in 2016 now that they have a running back that truly fits the zone blocking scheme. The Cowboys gave their offensive line an early Christmas present when they decided to draft Ezekiel Elliott #4 overall in this years draft. They could have chosen to go with a dominant defensive player with that selection, but they chose to add a player that can  make the strongest position on the team (OL) even stronger. If you add all of that up, it equals a deadly combination. Right?
