Tony Romo To Remain On Cowboys Active Roster

RJ Ochoa

Sunday nights are typically reserved for NFL action, but on September 4th Notre Dame and Texas had a different agenda, giving us the best college football game of opening weekend.

In the immediate aftermath, some Dallas Cowboys news broke as well!

This news comes in the eleventh hour of a weekend that saw the Cowboys bring in veteran quarterback Mark Sanchez and waive former backup Jameill Showers (who could very well end up on the Practice Squad should he in fact clear waivers).

I discussed on Sunday’s episode of OchoLive how Cowboys Nation could “read the tea leaves” regarding the Sanchez signing and Showers release as an indication that Tony Romo could be ready sooner rather than later. It appears the club feels that they simply need Sanchez in the interim to serve as an emergency veteran presence, because Tony Romo is on track to return prior to Sunday, November 6th (the first day he’d be eligible to return if put on Injured Reserve).

This is a great sign of optimism for the 2016 Cowboys as, while we’re excited about the prospect of Dak Prescott, this team belongs to Tony Romo as does any serious success that it can have. It appears that we aren’t as far away from it as we might have feared.

What do you make of Romo remaining on the Active Roster? Are you optimistic? Let us know! Comment below, Email me at RJ@RJOchoaShow.com, or Tweet to me at @RJOchoa!
