The Oakland Raiders will not match the offer that the Dallas Cowboys made to their defensive end Benson Mayowa, who was a restricted free agent. This means that Mayowa has officially traded in the silver and black for the silver and blue, joining Rod Marinelli’s defense on a 3 year deal worth $8.25 million.

While the need at defensive end is certainly still a large one for the Cowboys, the athletic Mayowa figures to be a big part of the rotation from the edge. Signed by the Seahawks after the 2013 draft, Mayowa started 3 games for the Raiders over the past two seasons after recording just 1 sack in 0 starts with Seattle.
Mayowa is just 24 years old, so this three year deal gives the team a chance to see the best of him as he develops. Dallas also has free agents at the position in Jack Crawford and Jeremy Mincey that could be re-signed to add further experience and depth.
This Mayowa deal was one of two moves the Cowboys made today, as they also addressed another need by signing Alfred Morris to an exceptional deal.
