#RJOShow Ep. 14: How I Met Your Uniform With Marcus Mosher & Ted Nguyen

I’m starting to reach a point in my life where I have enough personal happiness that I’m ready to re-watch the series finale of How I Met Your Mother. The gang of five that frequented MacLaren’s bar in New York City is one that I grew close to, and I got closer than I ever have to being a true member when I hung out with my own Ted and Marshall, Ted Nguyen and Marcus Mosher on this week’s #RJOShow. The three of us have exchanged many a tweet when it comes to a wide-ranging number of topics concerning the great game of football, but it was a stylish one that was up for dissection on the #RJOShow – NFL Uniforms. Marcus, Ted, and I talked nothing but the get ups that our favorite players wear on Sundays. We dove into what we like about uniforms, what we don’t, and a whole lot of in between.

Who will Emerge from the Cowboys Linebackers?

Dating all the way back to the 2005 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys have selected at least one linebacker every year. Many of them have not worked out, but the position still remains one that has a seemingly bright future with a solid amount of depth. When both healthy and in sync, Sean Lee and Rolando McClain are as good of a tandem at this position than anyone in the league. Since Dallas’ defense often plays dominantly in nickel packages, Lee and McClain see plenty of snaps as the only 2 linebackers needed on the field. However, the Cowboys current situation at LB may not be very sustainable in a long-term approach.

Is Chaz Green Set For a Collins-Like Climb?

The Dallas Cowboys added two offensive linemen in two different ways during the 2015 NFL Draft. First, they shocked many in the football world by drafting Florida Gators offensive tackle Chaz Green in the third round. Then, after the draft had concluded, they signed LSU Tigers offensive lineman La’el Collins as an undrafted free agent. While Green started his 2015 season with hip surgery, Collins immediately climbed up the depth chart, impressing coaches, players, and fans alike en route to his first game action week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles. During that fateful week 2 showdown which saw the first of two collarbone injuries to Tony Romo, Collins split time with veteran guard Ronald Leary.

Cowboys Defense: Orlando Scandrick Is Key To Success

The Dallas Cowboys finished with a losing record of 4-12 in 2015, and I think we can all agree that the main reason the season ended so badly was because of the rash of injuries that befell some of the key contributors on both offense and defense. The injuries to quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Dez Bryant received most of the publicity, and rightfully so, but there are other members in the Cowboys roster that impacted the overall performance as well. Did you know that cornerback Brandon Carr played the majority of the season with a shoulder injury? How about the fact that defensive end Jeremy Mincey had an elbow injury that kept him from being able to fully straighten his arm? Also, did you know defensive end Tyrone Crawford battled through a shoulder injury the majority of the season that impacted his effectiveness?

Rookie Watch: Cowboys Sign Ezekiel Elliott, 3 Others

It took some time, but 4 of the newest Dallas Cowboys’ rookies have signed their first deal with the team. Ezekiel Elliott, Anthony Brown, Kavon Frazier, and Darius Jackson are all now under contract and ready for what lies ahead in the 2016 season and beyond! It goes without saying that Ezekiel Elliott headlines this group, as signing his contract is just a formality. Ever since his selection was announced, Cowboys Nation has fully embraced the team’s newest dynamic running back. Even still, there’s a certain level of excitement in seeing Elliott in that Cowboys jacket, smiling as he puts pen to paper.

A Game Of Survivor: Jason Garrett Stands Tall Among NFC East Coaches

I’m not much of a reality tv fan. Sure I love Big Brother, but who doesn’t? I’m admittedly still a huge fan of MTV’s The Challenge, but that makes two more reality television shows than I really want in my life. During a casual “What should we watch?” conversation with my girlfriend the subject of Survivor came up.

Will Byron Jones Have A Sophomore Slump?

Around the NFL, players are preparing for the upcoming 2016 season, but not all of them are at the same stage in their careers as others. Rookies will be entering their first year in the league not quite knowing what to expect, while seasoned veterans more than likely  already have a routine they have followed for a while now. It’s the players entering their second year in the league that seem to struggle and go through some kind of regression, often referred to as their sophomore slump. Have you ever wondered why that is? My theory is that as rookies, the players are kept so busy after their final college game finding an agent, training, interviews, and different workouts with teams, that  they don’t have time to become complacent.

Cowboys Sign TE Austin Traylor, Cut Long Snapper

The Cowboys invited several undrafted rookies to their camp last week and have now signed one to the 90-man offseason roster. Tight end Austin Traylor out of Wisconsin will now join Geoff Swaim and Rico Gathers at the bottom of the depth chart. To make room for Traylor, Dallas released long snapper prospect Brandon Hartson. Don’t be surprised if they add another one sometime soon so that L.P.

Tyrone Crawford Needs to Reward Dallas’ Faith

Tyrone Crawford is a bit of an enigma for this Cowboys defense. He has a top-10 salary for defensive tackles and is one the highest-paid players in Dallas. The Cowboys had enough faith in Crawford to restructure his deal last March, decreasing their flexibility to release him down the road. Despite what his contract says, though, Crawford has yet to really perform at a top level. The circumstances aren’t his fault, but nevertheless the Cowboys have been paying and handling Crawford based on the expectation for what he will become.

Terrance Williams: Could This Be His Last Year in Dallas?

In the 2013 NFL Draft, the Cowboys traded down in the first round with the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a third round pick. The Cowboys used that pick to select Terrance Williams out of Baylor University, 74th overall. Williams was selected with the intention of complementing Dez Bryant as a WR2. While Williams can make some great plays, he’s also blown just as many, dropping easy passes, several on third-down. With both Brice Butler and Terrance Williams’ contractual clock’s winding down, it would make sense to give both opportunity for one of them to earn a long-term extension at the end of the upcoming season.
