Each week with the positional rankings, I’m going to offer Dallas Cowboys centered Fantasy Football information. I’ll offer you a breakdown of the matchup for your and my running backs. Make sure you go to InsideTheStar.com to get the breakdowns on all the important match ups for the coming week.
Your Dallas Cowboys Running Back – Ezekiel Elliott
If you’re not careful, it’s very easy to overreact to how a game turns out in the NFL.
After Ezekiel Elliott‘s two fumbles in the second half of the Washington Redskins game, many Cowboys fans were ready to put him on the bench. It’s a good thing the coaches don’t listen to the loudest fans.
Elliott is the lead runner in this offense and has a chance to be special for the next decade.
This week he faces a San Francisco 49ers team that looked stout in week one, against the Los Angeles Rams. They held Todd Gurley to 47 yards on 17 rushing attempts. That’s pretty good. Then they have allowed back-to-back 100-yard rushers. In week two it was Fozzy Whittaker who took over after Jonathan Stewart went out with an injury. Last week, Christine Michael had a 100-yard game in three-quarters of work.
With what we’ve seen from Elliott and the offensive line, there’s no reason to think they can’t have a productive day running the ball. Continue to start, without question.
Flawless Forecast: 24 touches, 135 total yards, one touchdown.
Your Dallas Cowboys Running Back – Alfred Morris
While Ezekiel Elliott had a really good day against a depleted Chicago Bears team, Alfred Morris found running room harder to come by. Yes, he had a touchdown, but he averaged less than four yards per carry on his five carries.
I fully expect the carry-split to remain similar to what it was in week 3, but maybe not as dramatic. Morris will continue to see 5+ carries a game and will get some goal line opportunities as he has in two straight weeks.
I expect Morris to have a better week, but he is limited by his touches. It seems like he has carved out some carries inside the red zone. With Dez Bryant probably out this week, I’d expect Morris to get some more work as Dallas runs the ball more.
Flawless Forecast: 10 carries 45 yards.
