Elsewhere in the NFC East, the Giants, Eagles and Redskins also set their rosters. Here are the surprising moves from around the division –
New York GiantsĀ
Chykie Brown DB
C.J. Conway DB
Henry Hynoski FB
Steve Weatherford P
The Giants are thin in the secondary, so it is surprising to see the team release Brown and Conway – as well as three other defensive backs.
The team will roll into Dallas for week 1 with Prince Amukamara, Stevie Brown, Landon Collins, Mike Harris, Jayron Hosley, Trumaine McBride, Brandon Meriweather, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Cooper Taylor and Trevin Wade.
Hynoski was a four-year veteran and fan favorite from the fullback position, and it is surprising to see him go – as many expect the Giants to regain dominance on the ground in 2015.
Weatherford was also a veteran punter who has been replaced with Brad Wing.
Philadelphia EaglesĀ
Chip Kelly’s preseason fun is over, and come time to narrow the roster down he cut an absurd 37 players.
Amongst those cut was QB Tim Tebow.
No, he will not be a Dallas Cowboy.
Moving on…
Washington RedskinsĀ
Takoby Cofield OL
Bryce Quigley G
Austin Reiter C
Willie Smith T
RGIII’s time as the starting QB in Washington is over, and his downfall can be mostly credited to the lack of protection he received across the offensive line.
Thus, it is interesting to see the Redskins let go of four linemen.
Protecting Kirk Cousins in 2015 will be Trent Williams, Shawn Lauvao, Kory Lichtensteiger, first round pick Brandon Scherff and Morgan Moses.
Somewhere the Cowboys’ eleven defensive linemen are smiling.
