Randy Gregory Rejoins Cowboys, Awaits Suspension Status

Suspended Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory has taken the next step in working his way back into relevance with the team, reportedly checking out of the rehab facility that he admitted himself into following the announcement of his initial four game suspension on February 19th.

Since then, the second year player has wisely not factored into the Cowboys’ plans at defensive end. Dallas managed just one sack from its maligned defensive line in a week 1 loss to the Giants yesterday, provided by Benson Mayowa – who was signed to a three year deal this off season as a potential long-term solution at that RDE position.

Gregory would see time at that position upon his return to the team, which we know will not be until at least week 5. Three games remain on his four game suspension, which is likely to increase to at least 10 games due to Randy Gregory’s repeated offenses in the NFL drug program.

We may have to wait until the very last minute to find out what Gregory’s 2016 season will actually be for the Cowboys, considering the league just officially announced his four game suspension on September 4th.

Meanwhile, Gregory can workout at The Star with the team, but not participate in full practices. When he returns to the field, he can then work himself back to football shape as a rotational player for Rod Marinelli’s defense.

Inside The Star will keep you updated on any developments with Randy Gregory, leading up to a pivotal road game against the Redskins this Sunday.
