Stephen Jones Shows Support for Dallas Drafting a First-Round Quarterback

The Cowboys fan base went into a slight panic with the suspension of Randy Gregory, as the team now a season removed from 13 wins and a trip to the NFC Divisional Playoffs (read: Championship Game, Dez caught it) enters an off season where many needs have arisen from what was just a four win team this year.

Particularly bummed about this turn of events is a smaller but loud group of fans that would like to see the Cowboys be in a position to draft a quarterback at fourth overall in the upcoming draft.

I certainly fall into this group, and that is why I was happy to see Stephen Jones come out and say the team is still very much considering drafting Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Paxton Lynch, or any of the top QBs.

“If you have the OPPORTUNITY in this league, in our situation, to get a potential franchise quarterback, then you have to make the investment. you have to have the patience.”

Patience is certainly something that the Cowboys Head Coach, Jason Garrett, has instilled in this franchise – and it may lead to the team drafting the heir to Tony Romo very soon, with the support of Jones.

Now, as the roster is currently, I’ll be the first to admit that there are some serious defensive needs that may trump the Cowboys ability to draft for the future and select a quarterback this season.

With that glaring need being at defensive end, I made a case for the later-round selection of Ronald Blair here. However, for those of you that were never for a first-round QB – or for the few that may have been scared away by this post – I also made a strong case for Joey Bosa at #4 overall right here.
