Cowboys Mini-Camp: Day 3 Takeaways

The next time we will see the Cowboys on the practice field will be for training camp in Oxnard, California. By that time, the preparation for the 2016 season will be in full force, and the position battles across the field will be heated. For now, the Cowboys have concluded mini camp, with DallasCowboys.com once again bringing us a glimpse of Thursday’s historic practice. Here are my final thoughts on what fans were able to see.

Previously on Tweet Break here at Inside The Star, we have looked at some of the best sights and sounds from the ongoing Cowboys OTA practices. Without further introduction, it’s going to be a wild ride to the finish line this week. Buckle up, Cowboys Nation! I promised a bumpy ride this week on Tweet Break, and there is no better way to start this journey than with some classic NFC East rivalry talk.

Dallas Cowboys: 5 Players That Are Irreplaceable

The Dallas Cowboys battled through their fair share of injuries in 2015 and if they want to have any kind of success in the upcoming 2016 season, they have to avoid the injury bug. The unfortunate thing about injuries is that they are unpredictable and they can really have a major impact on a teams performance depending on which players are the ones to go down. The sad truth for the Cowboys in 2015 was that the injuries that the team endured was to key members and was a major reason why they finished with a 4-12 losing record. I decided to try and identify a few of the Dallas Cowboys players that are simply irreplaceable and would be devastating to the entire team if anyone of them where to go down with an injury and miss an extended period of time. Tony Romo Tony Romo obviously makes this list because we all witnessed firsthand how this team functions without him at the helm leading the offense.

NFC East Position Rankings: The Quarterbacks

For decades, the NFC East was the most competitive and most feared division in all of football. In fact, an NFC East team participated in six of the nine Super Bowls played between the 1987 and 1995 seasons. However if you were to refer to the NFC East as the most competitive and most feared division in all of football today, you’d be only half right. Lacking a repeat champion since 2004, the division has become a source of parity while still maintaining the highly regarded and nationally viewed rivalry games which have become a staple of the NFL. After a horrid season a year ago where it looked as if a 7-9 team could steal the division at many points during the year, the NFC East looks to be improved and ready to begin to return to its old school form.

Tony Romo Gets New Set Of Logos From ESPN

My Dad has the same initials as I do. He also happens to be a huge golfer. Like any veteran of the links he knows that he has to mark his ball. Since he’s almost as creative as his son he’s developed a cool little logo. He writes an “R” and circles it to signify the “O” for our last name.

Tweet Break: Best of #Cowboys Twitter for May 27th

Every Friday here on Inside The Star, I bring Cowboys Nation the best of what was from the week on Twitter. Today’s edition is somewhat of a special occasion, as it is the last such post we will have for the month of May! This only means one thing, and it’s that we are inching closer to the next important dates on the Dallas Cowboys calendar – marching towards training camp, the preseason, and a shot at redemption when it matters the most in the 2016 regular season. Of course, this last week of May hasn’t gone by quietly at all, as the Cowboys were indeed back on the field for OTAs. With that, let’s enter the Twitterverse and look at some of the best from the silver and blue.

How Romo Wins 2016 Comeback Player of the Year

The NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award is given to an NFL player who has shown perseverance overcoming adversity. Winners in the past have either missed or performed poorly in the prior season, or suffered a severe injury but then excelled the following year. While it may be too early to tell, I think Tony Romo has a good chance of winning the Comeback Player of the Year Award in 2016. The last QB to win the award was Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers in 2013. Rivers, statistically, had one of his best seasons.

The Dallas Cowboys & Their Own Three Musketeers

Aramis, Porthos, and Athos; all names that should sound somewhat familiar to the majority of you, but really have absolutely zero connection to the Dallas Cowboys, or do they? If you’re not quite sure where you’ve heard those names before, that’s okay. They were first popularized in the novel The Three Musketeers, written by Alexandre Dumas that was published way back in 1844. Since the publication of Dumas’ novel we have seen numerous movies, TV series, and even cartoons depicting the Musketeer’s adventures. For those unaware, I’ll try to familiarize you with the story The Musketeers (the King’s guard) has been disbanded and the three most famous Musketeers (Aramis, Porthos, and Athos) are somewhat muddling around in their lives until they meet a young want to be Musketeer in D’Artagnan.
