Later today, from 1-4 PM EST, I will be joining Sean McChesney on his sports talk show SMC Sports on WMSC 90.3 FM and wmscradio.com.
While WMSC may be the voice of NJ’s Montclair State University, the Cowboys will surely be discussed throughout the show – in anticipation of their preseason opener!
We would love to hear from Cowboys Nation throughout the show at 973-655-4256! Here is a rundown of just some of the things we will discuss…
Brandon Carr Injury
With Brandon Carr likely sidelined, we will get a look at some of the younger members of this secondary tomorrow. First round pick Byron Jones will be in the spotlight while Tyler Patmon can get some much needed live-game reps.
We will discuss the expectations for this secondary playing behind an improved front seven.
Romo and his Weapons
Star wideout Dez Bryant will not play, which gives guys like Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley a chance to cement a role in this offense and make it stick when Bryant returns.
Expectations for Williams are high, and Beasley has been nearly impossible to cover so far in training camp.
Rookie Lucky Whitehead has been a popular name mentioned in the return game, and may see some time in the slot.
Gus Johnson and the Cowboys’ Backfield
Ideally the Cowboys planned on entering San Diego with a healthy Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden, but that will not be the case. McFadden has yet to return to the practice field, and Randle had his practice cut short on Monday with an oblique injury.
Lance Dunbar has also not been practicing, and will not play tomorrow.
This opens the door for rookie Gus Johnson, who has impressed so far in camp. The 5’10”, 215 pound back has been described as a physical runner – which the Cowboys could use in goal line situations.
Lache Seastrunk will also expect to see some carries in what will be the ultimate backfield-by-committee in San Diego.
Join Sean and I, along with John Galletley and ScoreBoardTX writer James Creange from 1-4 on WMSC 90.3 FM and wmscradio.com. Listen on smartphones via the Live 365 app – just search WMSC!
Looking forward to taking your calls at 973-655-4256!
