[tps_title]2017 NFL combine: 5 TE participants to watch for the Dallas Cowboys[/tps_title]
[5/5] Jeremy Sprinkle, Arkansas (6’5″, 256)
Jeremy Sprinkle maybe one of the better all-around tight ends in the 2017 draft class. He doesn’t have the athleticism of some of the other prospects, but seems just as happy to block in the running and passing game than he is catching passes.
He is built like an old-school tight end, with a thick frame and long arms. He could stand to add a little bit more upper and lower body strength to help him become a more dominant blocker, but that will happen in time. He is a natural hands catcher to become a threat in the receiving game, but he is heavy footed and takes a little bit of time to build up speed. That could cause him to struggle gaining separation in the passing game.
Sprinkle isn’t likely going to be one of the top performers in the different combine events. Sitting down answering a few questions in the interview process could do the most to help his draft stock, especially after being suspended for his bowl game for shoplifting.
Jeremy Sprinkle will probably never be a dynamic receiving threat in the NFL, but he is a well-rounded player that will have a long career as a tight end. He could be a middle round prospect that instantly upgrades the backup position behind Jason Witten and possibly become his successor for the Dallas Cowboys.
