Punting is a serious element to a football game. It falls under the umbrella of one third of the game’s primary phases: offense, defense, and special teams. Bob Lilly Named “Greatest Cowboys Defender”

Today marks the last Monday of June, a month which doesn’t have much for us football fans to get excited about. Sure, there was the mandatory mini-camp and we are all still riding a little bit of that post-draft high, but for the most part, we are stuck in a football rut. Since we are still weeks away from training camp opening up and eleven full Sundays from the Cowboys regular season opener against the New York Giants, why not take a step back from the current team’s players and problems, and appreciate some Cowboys history instead? Feeling the effects of this football lull himself, Elliot Harrison of NFL.com decided to list each NFL team’s greatest defensive player of all time, slating defensive lineman Bob Lilly as the Cowboys’ best.

Surprise Cuts: 5 Cowboys Battling For Life After Camp

Last week I took a shot at determining who the Dallas Cowboys might keep on their final 53 man roster, and that started me thinking who could possibly be the surprise roster cuts that we have to say goodbye to. Year in and year out, we have to say goodbye to players that we were hoping would be able to make an impact with the team and this year is no exception. Sometimes, these players are veterans that have been with the team for a while or they are rookies, but having to say goodbye to them is sometimes a little hurtful. The NFL off season can be a tricky time for fans and football writers alike. Prior to 32 teams opening up their training camps this summer on a quest towards Super Bowl LI, they must get through the remainder of June and most of July without a whole lot going on. ESPN Marks Jason Witten as Future Cowboys Head Coach

Jason Witten means many things to the Dallas Cowboys organization. Preparing to enter his 14th season with the team, the ever-reliable tight end has been through his fair share of losing seasons while also getting his opportunities in the playoffs – although still chasing his first championship ring. Should that elusive Super Bowl win not come for Jason as a player for the Cowboys, ESPN thinks that he could have a career trying to coach Dallas towards the promise land. As you see here, Jason Witten was selected as the current Cowboy that is most likely to one day coach his team, as ESPN picked an active player on all 32 teams. If Witten does one day trade in his cleats for a headset and coach the Dallas Cowboys, he would become just the third former professional player to lead the team as their Head Coach.
