Surprise Cuts: 5 Cowboys Battling For Life After Camp

Last week I took a shot at determining who the Dallas Cowboys might keep on their final 53 man roster, and that started me thinking who could possibly be the surprise roster cuts that we have to say goodbye to. Year in and year out, we have to say goodbye to players that we were hoping would be able to make an impact with the team and this year is no exception. Sometimes, these players are veterans that have been with the team for a while or they are rookies, but having to say goodbye to them is sometimes a little hurtful. Below are some of the players that I could see the Dallas Cowboys having to say goodbye to before the 2016 season gets underway. J.

FOX Ranks NFL Rushing Attacks, Places Dallas Out of Top 5

The NFL off season can be a tricky time for fans and football writers alike. Prior to 32 teams opening up their training camps this summer on a quest towards Super Bowl LI, they must get through the remainder of June and most of July without a whole lot going on. For Cowboys Nation to pass the time, we can always count on those lovable and incredibly accurate national headlines – right? Wrong. It is at this point in the summer that outlets like Fox Sports always undervalue the Dallas Cowboys and their status entering the new season.

Are Cowboys Defensive Triplets As Bad As They Say?

The Triplets. A term cemented in Dallas Cowboys lure forever because of the success of the 1990’s and three Hall of Famers on offense. Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin. After the selection of Ezekiel Elliott in the 2016 NFL Draft, Cowboys fans are hopeful that the dawn of a new Triplets is right around the corner. Tony Romo, Ezekiel Elliott, and Dez Bryant.

ESPN Marks Jason Witten as Future Cowboys Head Coach

Jason Witten means many things to the Dallas Cowboys organization. Preparing to enter his 14th season with the team, the ever-reliable tight end has been through his fair share of losing seasons while also getting his opportunities in the playoffs – although still chasing his first championship ring. Should that elusive Super Bowl win not come for Jason as a player for the Cowboys, ESPN thinks that he could have a career trying to coach Dallas towards the promise land. As you see here, Jason Witten was selected as the current Cowboy that is most likely to one day coach his team, as ESPN picked an active player on all 32 teams. If Witten does one day trade in his cleats for a headset and coach the Dallas Cowboys, he would become just the third former professional player to lead the team as their Head Coach.

NFC East Position Outlook: The Cornerbacks

While football pundits tend to refer to the middle linebacker as the “quarterback of the defense,” no defensive position group sees the quarterback-like criticism from fans like the cornerbacks do. As soon as an offense gets their passing game going, everyone wants to jump on the corners, wondering what could possibly be going wrong with the coverage. Sometimes, the criticism isn’t warranted and is delivered by not-so-knowledgeable fans. But other times, this heavy criticism points to just how important having formidable cornerbacks is. With that being said, let’s take a look at the cornerback groups of the NFC East.

Order Up: AT&T Stadium’s The Stadium Club Set To Open In Fall Of 2016

When you’re the home of the Dallas Cowboys and have played host to events like the College Football Playoff, Wrestlemania, countless concerts, and all sorts of other shindigs… it’s hard to continue to innovate. AT&T Stadium isn’t just your average ‘ol stadium, though. It is the home of the Dallas Cowboys, with a grand architect in Jerry Jones that knows how to cook up something good. Now he’s actually going to do some cooking.

Throw Up The Threes: Dez Bryant Plays Offseason Basketball In LA

Remember the days when Tony Romo used to golf? Those offseason story lines sure were fun, weren’t they? Nowadays we have to deal with stuff like this. Number 9 is one of the best cats on the links there is, and he’s also known to play a mean game of hoops as well. The explanation for this?

Tweet Break: Checking in with Dez Bryant and Ezekiel Elliott

Another Friday without Cowboys football is upon us here at Inside The Star, and this time there’s not even the tease of mini-camp practices to keep us going! The anticipation continues to build for the 2016 season, but until training camp, the Cowboys will be relatively quiet. To help get you through these slow times, I once again turned my attention to the never-quiet world of Twitter – specifically Cowboys Nation – to bring you the best tweets from this past week. Let’s get started! Keeping up with #88 Dez Bryant Dez Bryant should be in store for big things on the field this season, with his next step being to ramp up the intensity of his on-field work come training camp.

Dallas Cowboys: Training Camp Position Battles

The Dallas Cowboys are not your typical 4-12 team. The majority of their starting positions are locked in and because of that, the organization will have some difficult decisions to make when they start to figure out their final 53 man roster. Fortunately, they still have an entire training camp and four preseason games to keep a close watchful eye over all of their players. They have plenty of time to figure out who’s in and who’s out. Now, they won’t be calling me to ask for my personal opinion, but I will be keeping an eye on some of the position battles taking place to determine for myself who makes the final cut.

A Reminder To The World: Jason Witten Is An All-Time Great

Let me start by saying that Gil Brandt is the Godfather when it comes to the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys. He has forgotten and dismissed more about the game of football than I or any of us will ever know. Capeesh? Capeesh. As loyal members of Cowboys Nation we can admittedly look at things through America’s Team-tinted glasses.
