Ezekiel Elliott Speaks To Media, Scores All “RKG” Points

The Cowboys modern triplets took the field for the first time together for OTAs, teasing Cowboys Nation of what lies ahead with a fully healthy Tony Romo, recovering Dez Bryant, and rookie Ezekiel Elliott. While it wasn’t a whole lot that they did on the field yesterday, the three players addressed the media in the locker room after practice. All eyes were on the young Elliott, who absolutely made his Head Coach in Jason Garrett proud with some of these quotes that exemplified his personality as one of Jason’s “right kind of guys” as well as a player deserving of the fourth overall pick. Let’s look at some of the quotes that stuck with me after the interview – “It’s definitely better to have competition in there. Competition makes you better.

Is the Best Football Ahead for the Cowboys Offensive Line?

The Dallas Cowboys offensive line is one of the best positional units in the entire NFL. While the technical play of tackles and guards doesn’t interest many casual fans, there’s no doubt that Cowboys Nation can appreciate a perfectly executed zone blocking play with the likes of Tyron Smith, La’el Collins, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, and Doug Free all blocking in harmony. This very offensive line continued to do some amazing things in 2015, such as leading Darren McFadden to 1,089 yards on the ground. As we know, these yards turned out to be mostly empty, as Dallas won just 4 games and McFadden found the end zone just 3 times. Ezekiel Elliott is the player that made the pain of that 2015 season go away.

Cowboys-Titans Trade Scenarios for Ron Leary

News broke yesterday that Cowboys offensive guard Ronald Leary, stuck in a backup role in Dallas, has requested a trade. In Tennessee, starting offensive lineman Byron Bell was lost for the season to a severe ankle injury. The two events have naturally brought the Cowboys and Titans into the same conversation. We have no idea if the Titans have any interest in Leary. Not only does he have the well-known degenerative issue in his knees but he may be viewed as a system product.

Is Cole Beasley Looking At A Lesser Role In 2016?

I hate to keep bringing up the 2015 season, but it is the last reference point that we have to judge the production of the Dallas Cowboys and their players. In all honesty, I would like to wipe it from memory in hopes of forgetting all about the disastrous season last year, but since that’s not possible we just have to take comfort in the fact that a new season kicks off in the not so distant future. There has been one area of the Cowboys offense that has continued to haunt me ever since Dez Bryant went down with an injury early in the 2015 season against the division rival New York Giants. I knew then that the Cowboys wide receivers would struggle without Bryant in the lineup. There really isn’t another receiver on the roster that could step up and become that #1 WR, but there was one player that I thought might be able to take on a larger role.

Dallas Cowboys: Churning The Bottom Of The Roster

The Dallas Cowboys starting of organized team activities (OTA’s) on Tuesday wasn’t the only exciting news. They also decided to make a roster move and signed the former SMU Mustang defensive end, Zach Wood. Of course, in order to add Wood to the roster the Cowboys had to release defensive end Jason Neill. Neill was signed as an undrafted free agent after the completion of the 2016 NFL Draft. Under the tutelage of head coach Jason Garrett, the Cowboys have not been afraid to churn the bottom of the roster in hopes of finding players that can contribute on game days.

A Long Road Ahead For JJ Wilcox

OTA’s are finally getting started this week which means that position battles and fights for roster spots are about to kick off. Of course, the real battles won’t be decided until Training Camp opens up in late July and the team has a chance to evaluate the players while they play actual football. For a few Cowboys veterans, however, the battles have already begun. Last week, I discussed the ever fading chances for Darren McFadden to make this roster and have an impact in 2016. McFadden is going to have to compete with the 4th overall pick in this years draft, a new free agent addition who is clearly the better scheme fit, and now another 6th round pick who seems to have all the youth, athleticism, and breakaway speed which McFadden lacks.

Cowboys Rank 10th Among “Most Talented Teams”

Normally, I caution all Cowboys fans to take a national media outlet’s rankings or analysis with a grain of salt. The same is true with NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks’ list of the top 10 teams with the most talent on their roster. Rounding out his list, as the number 10 most talented team according to Brooks, are our Dallas Cowboys. Despite a 4-12 season a year ago, Brooks is on board with most of Cowboys Nation’s optimism about the current roster.

Rumor: Ronald Leary Wants to be Traded

Reputable sources are reporting that Cowboys guard Ronald Leary has requested a trade. Though they are voluntary, he has to report to the team’s practices or activities this offseason. We thought that Leary could get traded sometime before or around the NFL Draft. After all, he was given a Restricted Free Agent tender with a specific trade value of a second-round pick. Though he has degenerative knee issues, Leary has remained healthy thus far and was starter for the Cowboys much-praised offensive line in 2014.

Keeping Roster Healthy is Priority One During OTAs

OTAs are upon us and boy is it exciting to see some resemblance of football again! One step closer to the regular season! I’ve missed seeing the Cowboys. It’s important to remember that OTAs, for the most part, have very little hitting and even less action at full speed. While it may not be as exciting, it is the safest approach.

Another Reason To Love Dallas Cowboys Rookie Ezekiel Elliott

When I hit the treadmill I like to throw on some quality tunes (Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up And Dance” is a go to for me) and hit it hard. It feels like I’m moving at the speed of light and like I’m one of the coolest dudes in the world. A guy can dream, right? I have a feeling that when Ezekiel Elliott puts on his football uniform he feels exactly like I’m describing, except he’s actually one of the coolest dudes in the world. Whatever.
