[tps_title]2017 NFL Combine: 8 WR participants to watch for the Dallas Cowboys[/tps_title]
[7/8] ArDarius Stewart, Alabama (6’1″, 204)
Why he’s on this list: ArDarius Stewart is another wide receiver that slightly falls under the Dallas Cowboys preferred parameters for their wide receivers. And much like Malachi Dupre, he is a hard prospect to analyze because of the poor quarterback play at Alabama.
Stewart wasn’t used much as a down the field WR. Instead, he was mostly utilized in the screen game and also on jet sweeps. Much like what the Cowboys have done with Lucky Whitehead. Stewart however is a much more explosive and bigger WR than Whitehead, and there’s reason to believe he could be a good down the field threat if given the opportunity.
The Cowboys like Alabama players because the they know they’re well coached, which is why Stewart could be a player they target. As a rookie, he could step in and take over the return responsibilities, while competing for the #2 WR spot. He is already well-versed blocking in the running game, which is something the Cowboys will probably value pretty highly.
What to watch for at the NFL combine: The thing that pops out when watching him on film is his explosiveness, so it will be really interesting to see what is 40 yard dash time will be. His official measurements will also be an important evaluation tool for a lot of NFL scouts. It will help determine whether he is best suited to play out of the slot or if he can play on the outside as well.
I personally think he is a Day Two selection and could still be on the board when the Cowboys draft in the third round.
