[tps_title]2017 NFL Combine: 8 WR participants to watch for the Dallas Cowboys[/tps_title]
[8/8] Chris Godwin, Penn State (6’1″, 205)
Why he’s on this list: Chris Godwin is a mid round prospect that the Dallas Cowboys could target if they don’t address the WR position earlier in the draft. He also falls a little bit short of the preferred 6’2″ the Cowboys like, but he plays bigger than his size would indicate.
Godwin has a thicker lower body than a lot of the WRs on this list, and is built a little bit more like a running back. He is exceptional at going up and catching the ball at the highest point and usually is the one that comes out on top when making contested catches.
He isn’t one of the fastest receivers in this draft class, but he is able to get separation with his route running and has enough speed to be used as an occasional deep threat. He also shows a willingness to block down the field, which is something that the Cowboys will appreciate.
What to watch for at the NFL combine: The first thing I want to find out at the NFL combine about Chris Godwin is his height. I have seen him listed at 5’11”, which would mean he might not be on the Cowboys radar. I also want to find out his 40 yard dash time. He shows the ability to get separation, but he looks kind of like a 4.5 guy on film.
