NFC East Position Rankings: The Quarterbacks

For decades, the NFC East was the most competitive and most feared division in all of football. In fact, an NFC East team participated in six of the nine Super Bowls played between the 1987 and 1995 seasons. However if you were to refer to the NFC East as the most competitive and most feared division in all of football today, you’d be only half right. Lacking a repeat champion since 2004, the division has become a source of parity while still maintaining the highly regarded and nationally viewed rivalry games which have become a staple of the NFL. After a horrid season a year ago where it looked as if a 7-9 team could steal the division at many points during the year, the NFC East looks to be improved and ready to begin to return to its old school form.

Could Nick Hayden Return to Dallas?

Last March the Cowboys elected to let three-year starter Nick Hayden walk away as a free agent. Always more of a coach’s darling than an analytics favorite, Hayden stuck around as long as he did for his work ethic and attitude over actual performance. The Cowboys finally decided they needed more and moved on. Hayden remains a free agent right now. Dallas signed Cedric Thornton from the Eagles to play beside Tyrone Crawford.

Toughest Games on Cowboys 2016 Schedule

Projecting the strength of a team’s upcoming schedule sometimes seems like a fool’s errand. Last June I’m sure many teams weren’t looking forward to their date with the Dallas Cowboys, coming off a 12-4 season and NFC East Championship. However, once the guy under center went from Tony Romo to the Weeden-Cassel-Moore Poo-Poo Platter, those concerns were alleviated. At this time of year we can only look at what we have on paper. Injuries will happen that change the dynamics of these games.

NFC East Rookie Watch: Philadelphia Eagles

The path to the Super Bowl, starts first by running the NFC East. To do that, the Cowboys will have to best the New York Giants, the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles. Today, we look at the Philadelphia Eagles’ draft picks that could be the biggest problem for the Cowboys. Believe me this wasn’t easy, because even when I put my bias aside, I’m not sure that the Eagles hit home runs on any of their draft picks. But, I have to be fair, so we’ll look at Carson Wentz, Isaac Seumalo and Alex McCalister.

2016 Breakout Candidates: Cedric Thornton

Though they were relatively quiet in free agency this year the Cowboys did make a significant move at defensive tackle. Dallas chose not to re-sign Nick Hayden, who’d started all but one game over the last three years, and instead brought in fifth-year veteran Cedric Thornton from Philadelphia. Coming into the league undrafted, Thornton spent most 2011 on the practice squad. He became a regular reserve in 2012 as a backup defensive tackle. In 2013, the Eagles switched to the 3-4 scheme and Thornton emerged as a starting defensive end.

NFL Announces Cowboys Preseason Kickoff Times

Around the 32 teams in the National Football League right now, there is a sense of hope and anticipation for what lies ahead with a new slate of 16 games standing in their way on the path towards Super Bowl 51. Before teams can focus on the regular season though, they must first get through the rest of OTAs and minicamp, followed by training camp, then finally four preseason games. The Dallas Cowboys preseason schedule has been known for some time (and you can click here to view it on Inside The Star), but the kickoff times were not released until earlier this week. Here is exactly when our Cowboys will be playing football during the preseason – tuning up for what hopes to be an exciting 2016 season. Week Opponent Time (CT) 1 @ LA Rams 7 PM 2 vs.

Dez Bryant: Cowboys Emotional And Inspirational Leader

Dez Bryant has received a lot of media attention since joining the league in 2010 after being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round with their 24th pick. Whether it is really warranted or not is another question. The Dallas Cowboys are arguably the most recognizable sports franchise in the entire world and they are no strangers to the media attention that it attracts. This is both a good and bad thing in regards to Dez Bryant. Bryant’s personality makes him stand out and often times his passion for the game can be misconstrued to the point where a lot of people believe he is a detriment to the team.

Maliek Collins: Minor Setback, Major Comeback?

A few weeks ago, I explored how the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive line could still create pressure and wreak havoc even without the presence of a big time pass-rushing end. My plan focused on the interior of the defensive line shrinking the pocket and getting into the face of the quarterback. This would eliminate any chance of stepping up in the pocket, and would force either a quick throw or a failed escape attempt. Maliek Collins, Cedric Thornton, Tyrone Crawford, and Terrell McClain would be featured in a fearsome interior rotation that would bring hope to an otherwise questionable defensive line. It all seemed so perfect.
