[tps_title]2017 NFL Combine: 6 CB participants to watch for the Dallas Cowboys[/tps_title]
[1/6] Sidney Jones, Washington (6’0″, 181)
It may be a leap to think Sidney Jones will be available for the Dallas Cowboys in the first round when they are finally on the clock at 28, but he is a cornerback that could step in as a rookie and instantly upgrade the secondary.
Jones reminds me a lot of his former teammate, Marcus Peters — currently with the Kansas City Chiefs — but without any of the character concerns.
He has all the tools needed become a “shutdown” CB in the NFL. He is excellent in man coverage and can carry a wide receiver all over the field. One of his best traits though is his ability to make a play on the ball when it thrown in his direction. His length and jumping ability allows him to contest just about every pass and his ball skills allow him to make opposing quarterbacks think twice about throwing in his direction.
The really only negative about Sidney Jones is his thin frame. Bigger receivers in the NFL will be able to manhandle him, so it will be important for him to add a little mass to his frame without sacrificing his speed.
I’m really looking forward to seeing him go through some of these drills at the NFL combine. I want to see how smooth he is with his movements and whether or not there is any stiffness in his hips when he’s transitioning out of his back pedal.
This is the year, the Cowboys will draft Seattle like secondary players , to take the Cowboys to another level Furthermore, those additions, will have Sean Lee, Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones, and Anthony Brown, flourish, in a proactive mode, especially, if the Cowboys land Takk and AQ Muhammad at the defensive end position. It’s Charles Haley an Harvey Martin, show again!!
I think all of us Cowboys fans are hoping that’s the case.
